Chapter 2 Then Reject Me

Gloria's POV

Standing upon the stage, I averted my gaze from the tender sight of lovers entwined at the far end of the crimson carpet.

My hands were clenched so tightly that my nails had indented into my palms.

Through Frank's shoulder, Emily peered up at me with a sarcastic smile, seemingly mocking my defeat.

"Frank..." I called softly, then descended the steps toward them.

Amidst the murmurs and glances of those around me, I paid no heed to their prying eyes.

"Emily, you're awake? This is truly delightful. Today happens to be the day of Frank and my wedding ceremony. Are you here to celebrate it as well?"

I struggled to contain my tumultuous emotions and maintain a facade of a smile as I extended my hand to take Frank's arm. However...

"Gloria, I'm sorry, I..." Frank awkwardly withdrew his hand, avoiding eye contact and instead, taking Emily's hand without a moment's hesitation.

Emily gazed at me with teary eyes. "Gloria, I don't hold you responsible for what happened. It was merely an accident. But I can offer you anything, just... Please, don't take Frank away from me."

I responded with a bitter smile. Three years of being in a "sleeping" state had not altered her at all. She remained as repugnant and hypocritical as ever, just like her father.

I turned to Frank. "So, that is your decision, is it?"

"Gloria, I'm sorry. Emily has awakened, and I promised her that she would be my Luna for all eternity."

I raised my eyes and spoke with a sharp edge to my voice. "And even now, you still doubt me?"

Just like everyone else present, they all assumed that I had orchestrated the accident to steal Frank away from Emily. Contempt flickered in the depths of my eyes.

"Then REJECT ME NOW. If you publicly reject me with an oath, I shall not dwell on it any further. And naturally, the alliance between the Bloodmoon Pack and the Darknight Pack shall come to an end."

My throat tightened, and my eyes stung with emotion, but I quickly composed myself once more.

I gazed up at him with earnest eyes. "Can you?"

After being ousted from the Silvermoon Pack, I found solace among the ranks of the Bloodmoon Pack, a group of rogues that swiftly burgeoned under the reign of Alpha Quinton, as the legend went.

After news of Alpha Frank and me captured together at the hotel emerged, circumstances compelled him to accept me as his mate, securing the unity of the two wolf packs and the alliance between them.

"Don't coerce me!" Frank's eyes bore into mine, stern and unyielding. "You know full well why we wed, Gloria. Don't be insatiable and push me further away."

I chuckled icily. "What's the difference between loathing and loathing more?"

Frank's scowl shifted into a serious expression. "Gloria!"

Emily promptly laid her hand on Frank's, preventing him from raising it further. "Frank, calm down. I don't think Gloria meant it that way. She's just struggling to accept the reality."

I shot a sarcastic glance at Emily, who was still pretending to be innocent, and suddenly lost all interest in the situation.

"I'll be waiting for your oath, Alpha Frank," I uttered coolly before turning to depart.

After leaving, I hailed a car and headed straight to the villa I had purchased earlier for myself.

The underlings were taken aback by my sudden appearance and quickly lined up to greet me respectfully.

Once in my room, I called my dearest friend Bianca. "How have you been?"

Bianca's voice carried a surprise, "You called me? Wasn't today supposed to be your big day with Alpha Frank?"

"Emily is awake. I ended things with him."

"What?" Bianca sounded utterly taken aback.

"Unbelievable! For the past three years, you've been so devoted to him that you lost yourself in the process. And he, just because of Emily, decided to let you go? Even more astonishing is that you agreed to it?"

Bianca, my dearest friend at the Bloodmoon Pack, and only a select few others close to me were aware of my hidden identity—one that I held in secret as the Gamma Diana of our pack.

The internet echoed with a popular saying: "Gamma Diana is second to none."

My name alone struck fear into the hearts of many werewolves.

"Do people seek my aid lately? Are there any intriguing matters at hand?" I inquired.

As the mightiest werewolf warrior, I often received requests for assistance in dealing with unsavory tasks or in securing justice for victims.

Bianca appeared somewhat melancholic as she responded, "Indeed, there is one such request, and the price offered is exorbitant. However, no one dares to take it, and I fear...you cannot accept it either."

Curiosity piqued within me upon hearing her words, and my usually indifferent demeanor gained a touch of intrigue. "Oh? Tell me more," I pressed.

"Have you heard of the Blood Wolf Cup?" she began.

"Every four years, werewolves come together to celebrate strength and speed in this grand event. Each pack selects their mightiest warriors to partake, showcasing their strength and influence while bolstering the pack's prestige. Those who excel may even receive honors from the Lycan King, securing greater resources for their pack."

Bianca continued, "Sadly, the Gamma of the Fullmoon Pack suffered a tragic and severe injury during a mission. Alpha Edward now seeks an alliance with the Bloodmoon Pack, hoping you will fight on their behalf."

I understood Alpha Edward's reasons for seeking our partnership. The Bloodmoon Pack had never before participated in the Blood Wolf Cup, while other packs avidly vied for the honor.

I had inquired about this matter with Alpha Quinton, who offered a sage explanation, "Well, we are all adults, and such combats are for kids."

His calm look when he spoke almost made me forget the fact that he was once the cruelest and most aggressive rogue before.
