Chapter 5 Frank's Anger

Edward's POV

"I will emerge victorious in this match," said the woman before me, her tone light yet brimming with unwavering confidence.

Oddly enough, her assurance began to resonate within me, and I found myself inexplicably convinced.

I fixed my gaze upon the stunningly beautiful woman, and my eyes seemed to enter a trance.

She stood tall, her black, long, straight hair elegantly tied in a ponytail with slightly curled bangs framing her face. Adorned in a light blue waist dress, it accentuated her body's most appealing features. She had a figure that left no room for lack, and where there should have been delicacy, there was just the right amount.

Her petite face was astonishing beauty, with a pair of round eyes that exuded both professionalism and a captivating charm, drawing me effortlessly.

Gloria was truly a sight to behold, and once you laid eyes on her, her image remained etched in your memory forever. In her presence, others would pale in comparison.

People often referred to beautiful women as mere decorations, but what about her?

If she was not a deceiver and was indeed Diana, then she was someone not to be underestimated!

"I agree with your proposal, whatever it may be," I responded warmly, nodding my head in affirmation.

Gloria placed one hand on the desk, lightly tapping her index finger on the surface as she smiled calmly at me. "I've heard that there will be a banquet in ten days."

The feast was organized by the royal family to celebrate the Blood Wolf Cup, and almost every pack would be invited.

I frowned in acknowledgment. "Yes, that's correct."

A slight tilt of her head and Gloria continued, "Would you, Alpha Edward, be in need of a female companion for the occasion?"

I was surprised, but I quickly masked it with a smile. "I would be delighted to have your company. Please provide me with your address, and I shall pick you up that night."

Gloria took a sip of her juice, her cherry lips leaving a subtle water stain. She pursed her lips playfully and said, "That would be too dull. Allow me to pick you up from your house instead."

"What?" Bianca exclaimed in shock.

Unaccountably, I found myself gazing at Gloria, not questioning her intentions. My lips curved slightly, and I replied, "Agreed."

Gloria reassured Bianca with a look before turning back to me. "So, Alpha Edward, when do you plan to launch a challenge to the Darknight Pack?"

I pondered the situation for a moment, then chuckled, "You know what? I think it can wait until after the party. It'll be more enjoyable that way."

Gloria smiled and rose from her seat, "You're in charge of that. Now that we've talked, I'll be heading back. Just let me know if there's any more information to send to Bianca. Thanks for your hospitality."

As I narrowed my eyes slightly, I observed the woman before me, who exuded casual elegance and organized confidence.

She seemed like a completely different person compared to the one I had seen before – always silently hidden behind Frank. Though beautiful, she appeared to lack something, as if her soul was absent.

However, now I couldn't help but notice an intriguing aura about her, captivating my attention.

With a friendly smile, I picked up my cell phone, "Why don't we exchange contact information? That way, I can reach out to you directly if I have any questions."

Gloria let out a sudden laugh and playfully took a piece of paper to write down her phone number, teasing, "Just a reminder, Alpha Edward – you should keep your distance from your rival's ex-girlfriend."

I raised the note already in my hand. "Oh, I'm just relishing the thought of how it might bother my opponent. Aren't you also happy about that, Ms. Diana?"

Gloria burst into laughter, extending her hand, her cherry lips forming a teasing grin, "Here's to a happy partnership, then."

As I reached out to shake her hand, a figure suddenly sprang out from the side and grabbed Gloria's hand before me.

I looked up and, much to my annoyance, it was none other than Frank.

His forehead was creased with veins as he said, "Gloria! What are you doing? Don't forget your identity, I have not rejected you, you are still my mate!"

Gloria laughed sarcastically. "And you? What's going on with you and Emily?"

Frank clearly froze and then said, "So this is your revenge on me?"

Gloria laughed, unbothered, "If you see it that way, then so be it."

"Are you crazy, Gloria? How can you hang out with him? Do you even know who he is?"

Frank's words made me frown.

"He doesn't seem to think much of you." teased my wolf Edgar inside me.

"Shut up." I silently told my wolf to shut up.

Then I heard Gloria's sweet voice.

"Alpha of the Fullmoon Pack, Edward Sanchez. So what? What's your problem?" Gloria shrugged off Frank's hand, her tone now cold and assertive.

"Do you truly grasp the essence of his character? The man's a notorious playboy! I can hardly fathom your association with him, Gloria. You'd do well to reconsider your choices," Frank threatened, his anger barely contained.

"Let me tear his mouth out." Edgar roared inside me.

"And what concern is it of yours now?! Let us not forget, we've parted ways, and my actions are no longer any of your business!" Gloria retorted with a sarcastic smile.

"That's not the same!" Frank's teeth were gritted.

"It is entirely the same!" Gloria was brutally honest. "You condemn him while being blind to your own faults. If anything, you possess a darker nature than his."

"Gloria!" Frank's whisper carried an angry intensity. "I won't allow you to be with him!"

Then Frank turned and looked at me coldly, "Sorry, Edward, I need to get my mate out of here first."

Then he reached out and pulled Gloria's arm.

Gloria struggled, attempting to fight back at that moment.

I rose, gently placing my arm around her shoulders, and noticed she was trembling slightly. When she looked up at me, her eyes were slightly red, glistening with tears.

An inexplicable emotion surged within me, and even my wolf couldn't help but whimper.

At that moment, I realized that this woman would also truly have vulnerable moments where she sought support sometimes.

I gently rubbed her shoulder, trying to comfort her, then lifted my head to face Frank. At that moment, I witnessed a fiery glare in his eyes. I had to admit, it pleased me.

"Sorry, she's my girl now, and by the way, I really don't like the way you judged me..." I spoke humbly and politely, "Do you hold something against me?"

"In terms of strength, the Fullmoon Pack and the Darknight Pack are evenly matched."

"And in terms of appearance, am I that far behind you?" I inquired further.

"In terms of generosity... Wait a moment." I gestured, and my Beta entered, holding a box.

"Ms. Gloria, this is the gift I intended for you today—a sapphire, your favorite."

Gloria visibly froze, gazing at me in a daze, resembling a startled bunny. Adorable enough to inexplicably lift my spirits.

I turned my gaze to the blushing Frank and continued, "As far as I know, you've never given Gloria anything in three years. Your thoughts have been consumed by another woman."

"In my eyes, Ms. Gloria deserves the best this world has to offer. And most importantly..." I looked at Gloria and couldn't help but utter it, "If Gloria will have me, then for as long as I live, she will be the only woman for me!"

"And excuse me, I must ask..." I said slowly, gazing coldly at Frank's darkened face, "Can you do that for her?"

Frank was stunned. He glanced at Gloria, obviously not sure how to answer the question. "Gloria, I..."

"A werewolf with such an indecisive and disloyal soul, I can't believe you saw him as a rival all these years," my wolf Edgar was screaming his discontent inside of me.

I ignored it, then gave Frank a contemptuous look and said in a sarcastic tone, "So clearly, Gloria did the right thing by choosing me."

Frank seethed with fury, his eyes ablaze with rage, as he raised his menacing fist, poised to strike me.

Yet, I remained composed and resolute, meeting his attack head-on. In the very instant before his fist could make contact with my face, I deftly intercepted it, catching it with my own hand.

"Show him no mercy! Take him down!" My inner wolf urged eagerly, its wild spirit ignited.

Frank's visage contorted in pain. With a vehement motion, I shook off his fist, causing Frank to stagger backward in surprise and disarray.

"I hope you'll act like a gentleman and refrain from pestering Ms. Gloria. It seems to me that spending some quality time with your Emily would be more appropriate, wouldn't it?"

With that, I coldly glanced at the frozen Frank, took hold of Gloria, and left.

"She's mine! I'll never reject her! By the heavens, you shall not have her!" Frank's wild and impassioned cry echoed in our wake.

I sensed Gloria quivering in my embrace, yet I chose to enfold her shoulders with a tender yet resolute grip, and gracefully bore her away from the scene.
