Gloria's POV
I'd always relished a challenging case.
Furthermore, now that I'd parted ways with Frank, I didn't have to worry about anything.
Bianca, still in shock, inquired with a perplexed expression, "But why would you assist Alpha Edward? You loved Frank deeply and did so much for him before."
I interjected, my voice carrying a hint of bitterness, "As you mentioned, that was before."
"Really?!" she exclaimed.
I paused for a moment, Frank hadn't explicitly accepted my offer of rejecting me, leaving me to speculate on his thoughts.
"Yes," I replied resolutely, "Don't worry. Now that I've taken the case, I'll undoubtedly give it my best effort."
Bianca nodded half-heartedly, then she said worriedly,"But in this case, Alpha Edward insisted on meeting you in person. By then, he will discover the relationship between you and Frank, and I fear he won't trust you."
"Do not fret, I can handle that matter," I assured her.
Bianca nodded, "Alright then, I'll take care of the rest."
The following day, while I was perusing the information at home, Bianca called.
"Gloria, Alpha Edward wants to meet you. Are you okay with that?" she asked.
I pondered for a moment and then I agreed. Since I had accepted the case, we would see each other sooner or later anyway.
Half an hour later, Bianca arrived to pick me up.
She still seemed somewhat concerned. "Are you truly prepared?"
I sat calmly in the passenger seat. "Yes. Fully prepared."
"Can you really gain Alpha Edward's trust?"
I patted her shoulder reassuringly. "Don't worry. You'll know soon enough."
Upon arriving at the restaurant, I saw a handsome man engrossed in playing a mobile game.
He was dressed in a high-fashion version of a black suit, exuding an inherent nobility. His blue eyes carried a trace of warmth, but beneath that warmth lay an enigmatic edge, honed by years of ice-cold demeanor.
Occasionally, the sounds of the game seemed at odds with his elegant appearance.
As our footsteps echoed through the restaurant, his head slowly lifted, and Alpha Edward's eyes registered surprise when he saw me.
Without hesitation, he abandoned the game, and a faint smile played on his lips. "If I'm not mistaken, you must be Alpha Frank's mate. Have you entered the wrong domain?"
I gracefully approached and took a seat across from Alpha Edward, my smile undisturbed. "There's no mistake. Weren't you the one who invited me out?"
Alpha Edward's gaze shifted to Bianca, standing behind me, and he seemed to freeze for a moment. "You're Diana?" he said, his eyes reflecting amazement.
"Yes," I replied, capturing the wonder in his gaze.
Alpha Edward then turned to Bianca, a mischievous grin forming on his face. "Miss Yost, it seems you owe me an explanation."
Bianca cleared her throat, a touch embarrassed. "Alpha Edward, given Diana's previous situation, I couldn't speak openly with you. However, since she's agreed to represent your pack in the Blood Wolf Cup, there are certain things I can clarify."
Alpha Edward's pupils contracted slightly, and after a pause, he remained composed. "So, you're trying to tell me that Diana, the person I went to great lengths to hire, is my rival's girlfriend?"
I arched an eyebrow and corrected him, "Ex-girlfriend."
Despite his outward composure, Alpha Edward appeared somewhat taken aback. "Ex-girlfriend?" he repeated.
Raising my hand gracefully, I introduced myself, "Alpha Edward, I'm Diana. Nice to meet you."
Alpha Edward reciprocated the handshake, a few smiles dancing on his lips. "Looks like things are about to become interesting."
Confidently, I looked at him and said, "Alpha Edward, we understand how crucial this tournament is for the Fullmoon Pack. There will be no fooling around. You might not trust Gloria, Frank's ex-girlfriend, but you cannot question Diana."
Alpha Edward narrowed his eyes slightly, but after a moment, he let out a soft laugh.
"You must be aware of Daniel Chance. I don't think there's anyone I fear could beat him, except Diana. He's the Gamma of the Darknight Pack, undefeated in all the tournaments, and Frank's closest friend."
In a realm of whispered rumors, it has been said that Daniel Chance possesses the qualities akin to a second Diana. If these two were ever to engage in a match, the spectacle would undoubtedly be thrilling.
Such was the reason why Alpha Edward went to great lengths to persuade me to join the fray as well.
However, at present, circumstances seem somewhat fortuitous yet undeniably captivating.
Bianca responded with a knowing grin, "Indeed, Daniel Chance is remarkably skilled. Few, apart from Diana, stand a chance against him."
Edward nodded in tacit approval but showed no haste in discussing the matter further.
"You make a valid point. Shall we partake of the meal first?" he suggested, gracefully inviting the serving staff to bring the food. In a chivalrous manner, he proceeded to introduce the dishes and wines.
I, too, dispensed with formality, picking up my chopsticks while glancing at Edward. "I appreciate your hospitality."
Edward, in response, raised his wine glass with a smile, "Allow me to propose a toast, Miss Diana."
"Ah, I must decline your kind offer," I demurred, "I have heard that your stomach is not in the best condition. Let us focus on the meal."
A subtle smirk graced Edward's thin lips, saying, "I didn't expect you to be so 'concerned,' Miss Diana, but you seem to be well-informed about my health."
My hand holding the chopsticks twitched momentarily, but I swiftly composed myself and resumed eating nonchalantly.
For the next while, conversation was sparse as we delved into the meal wholeheartedly.
Edward's dining etiquette was that of a noble prince, his every move deliberate and refined.
Bianca occasionally cast a worried glance his way, but I offered her an assuring look and continued my meal.
Eventually, Bianca gently cleared her throat. "The food is nearly finished. Why don't we delve into the matter at hand?"
Edward also laid out the knives and forks on the table, picked up his napkin, wiped his mouth slowly and gracefully, then looked up at me. "Miss Diana, I have to admit, you surprised me."
I bent my lips into a gentle smile and said, "It doesn't matter. You will have more surprises in the future."
Edward raised his eyebrows, his eyes more interested. "Then I'll wait and see."
I directed my gaze at Edward, my demeanor calm and composed. "I have been apprised of the details, and I assure you that I will emerge victorious in this match. Your proposed compensation is agreeable to me, but I have an additional condition, Alpha Edward."
Edward's POV"I will emerge victorious in this match," said the woman before me, her tone light yet brimming with unwavering confidence.Oddly enough, her assurance began to resonate within me, and I found myself inexplicably convinced.I fixed my gaze upon the stunningly beautiful woman, and my eyes seemed to enter a trance. She stood tall, her black, long, straight hair elegantly tied in a ponytail with slightly curled bangs framing her face. Adorned in a light blue waist dress, it accentuated her body's most appealing features. She had a figure that left no room for lack, and where there should have been delicacy, there was just the right amount. Her petite face was astonishing beauty, with a pair of round eyes that exuded both professionalism and a captivating charm, drawing me effortlessly.Gloria was truly a sight to behold, and once you laid eyes on her, her image remained etched in your memory forever. In her presence, others would pale in comparison.People often referred to
Gloria's POV"Thank you, but this is too expensive for me to accept," I said as I held the exquisite sapphire necklace that Edward had just given me, as we left the restaurant.Edward gazed at me with keen interest, and asked, "Have you two broken up for good?"For a brief moment, I flinched, then replied somewhat unnaturally, "It's complicated."Edward smirked, sizing me up, "So, you two dated and loved each other before just for show?"I tilted my head slightly, "You seem to have a quick mind, Alpha Edward, so why ask?"Suddenly, a thought seemed to flicker in my mind, and I calmly confronted Edward, "You knew that Frank would show up today, didn't you? That's why you invited me out to dinner, knowing that I'm Diana. You wanted to test my feelings for Frank, to see if I was the undercover agent he sent to your side."Surprise briefly flashed in Edward's eyes. "You're quite astute."I regarded him coolly, saying nothing."And it was you who sought me out for this match, not the other
Gloria's POVThe week flew by, and I ventured to the grocery store, amassing a plethora of ingredients to conjure a delightful meal, a treat solely for myself."Those two! Can't he see she's totally a two-side bitch!" Ally, my wolf companion, huffed indignantly, still shaken by the recent events.I couldn't help but snicker, not truly upset. "Men probably fall for that kind of woman.""And you're not furious? Don't you want to give them a lesson?" Ally questioned."An eye for an eye has always been my philosophy, and I will handle things in my own way," I replied, my amusement evident.Ally's spirits lifted instantly, and she inquired eagerly, "Then tell me, what's your plan?""Breaking up is the first step, of course," I responded.Ally rolled her eyes dramatically. "That's all?"With a hearty laugh, I replied, "You'll find out the rest in due time.""So what's the deal with you and Edward?" Ally suddenly asked, her suspicions resurfacing. At the mention of Edward's name, I froze mom
Gloria's POVAs I waited patiently, the long-awaited party finally arrived. At that moment, I found myself already seated in Edward's car. He glanced at me, a soft smile dancing on the corners of his lips, "You look stunning today."I turned my gaze towards him and replied softly, "Thank you."During the journey, Edward endeavored to keep the atmosphere lively, searching for various topics. He skillfully concealed his intention to do so, and our conversation flowed effortlessly, making the atmosphere much more relaxed. Before long, we reached our destination. It was the grand banquet organized by the royal family in honor of the Blood Wolf Cup, and guests were pouring in like clouds.Numerous cars were already parked outside the gate, and attendants managed the order while guests, accompanied by their female companions, exchanged warm greetings before entering together. As Edward's car came to a complete stop, many people unconsciously turned their attention in our direction, their ex
Gloria's POVThe banquet was alive with activity, yet amid the bustling crowd, all were keenly attentive. However, when the King made his entrance, the attention of the gathering was inevitably diverted.Standing beside him, holding the microphone, was his Beta, Luke.He beamed at the assembled guests and said, "Thank you, all of you, for gracing this banquet with your presence once again. To make it even more enjoyable, we have arranged an intriguing program for today."The audience was immediately captivated.Edward, standing at the center, turned his gaze toward me with a smug expression and declared, "This idea was mine!"His look was akin to a puppy seeking praise from its master."Hmm?" I regarded him with suspicion.Perhaps others would be puzzled by Edward's behavior, but knowing him well, I was aware that he never did anything without some self-interest. So, what was he trying to convey by singling me out? However, the next moment, I found myself taken aback, "You..."The smi
Gloria's POVAfter a while, I whispered, "I want to go back home."Edward rose thoughtfully and offered, "Allow me to walk you." He led me out with grace. At the door, Edward spoke softly, "I'll fetch the car and come back. Are you fine on your own?" His voice was laden with concern and care, akin to soothing a nervous and helpless kitten.I smiled and replied, "You needn't worry about me. I'm better now, better than ever."I spoke the truth; three years of love had not brought me happiness; rather, it had bound me like chains. Now, at this moment, I felt liberated. In the doorway, I stood quietly awaiting Edward's return, while a few people around me occasionally cast glances my way."Gloria."It was Emily. My gaze turned slightly cold, unwilling to pay any heed.Emily took a step towards me and feigned concern, "Gloria, are you okay?"Deep within, I couldn't help but smile coldly. This was Emily's forte; even if she disliked someone, she never showed it. Instead, she exuded elegance
Gloria's POVOn the following day, I returned to the Bloodmoon Pack.My abrupt reappearance caused quite a sensation. Everyone unconsciously directed their attention towards me."If it isn't our esteemed Gamma Diana! I never thought I'd lay eyes on your face again," a cocky voice chimed in. I sneered as the man approached me.Ben Darcy appeared unchanged. He still wore that same obnoxious expression. Ever since his defeat to me in a previous bout, he had been looking at me with resentment. He had always advocated the belief that "men can fight better than women", after all."Ben, it's such a pleasure to see you," I said sarcastically.Ben laughed and came closer."I heard Alpha Frank dumped you. This isn't the first time you've been ousted, is it?" His mocking tone ignited my anger, and I paused."We ought to teach him a lesson!" Ally growled."Listen," I stepped closer. "You better get away from me before I knock your teeth out." With that, I turned around and walked past Ben, my hea
Gloria's POVBy the end of the night, I had just finished washing up and settled comfortably under the covers, ready to lie down and sleep, when I suddenly received a phone call."Hey Gloria, help! Come and help me!"The voice on the phone sounded excited; it was Bianca, without a doubt."What's wrong now?" I asked patiently. She had a tendency to make things sound more complicated than they were."I'm alright, don't worry. It's just... just a little... small confrontation with someone."Bianca's voice trembled on the other end of the line."What? You got into another race?"Bianca wasn't exactly gifted when it came to racing, but her enthusiasm for the sport often led her into situations where she needed my help."Not exactly. This punk is looking down on me. Even when I mentioned your name, he claimed not to recognize it. He's clearly disrespecting you. You should show him...""Give me the address."I interrupted Bianca, my frustration apparent. She promptly shared the address.Seei
