Chapter 3 My Decision

Gloria's POV

The following day, inside the cozy cafe.

I asked Bianca, "So, why do you think I can't handle it?"

As I nonchalantly stirred my coffee with a spoon, I pressed Bianca to tell me the truth.

Her voice stammered as she struggled to articulate her thoughts. "There's really no point in you knowing..."

"Why?" I inquired, genuinely curious.

"You must understand that the Fullmoon Pack and Darknight Pack are the two most formidable wolf packs. They are the top contenders for the title every four years, and their Alphas, Frank and Edward, lead these packs. They compete in various areas and are natural rivals."

Upon hearing this, a sense of foreboding washed over me.

As expected, Bianca let out a sorrowful sigh and confessed, "The one who seeks your help this time is Alpha Edward, and his pack's opponent is none other than... Frank's wolf pack!"

My breath caught for a moment, my heart heavy with the implication.

Bianca placed a hand over her heart and continued with difficulty, "This money is not meant for us."

Silent, I fiddled with my phone, my mind processing the weight of the situation.

Misinterpreting my silence as sadness, Bianca tried to console me, "Don't be disheartened; with your abilities, making money will be a breeze! By the way, Diana, did you really break up with Frank?"

I pursed my lips and answered resolutely, "Without him, I'm the real me now."

As Bianca looked at me intently, relief washed over her features, and she spoke softly, "You've finally realized it! You sacrificed so much for that scoundrel who couldn't appreciate your love. Leaving him was the best decision, dear! I truly congratulate you!"

Suddenly, my attention was drawn to two familiar figures entering the cafe from afar, causing my expression to darken.

Frank donned a sharp black suit, and the silver cufflinks on his sleeves glistened coldly in the light. Beside him was Emily, wearing an elegant white dress, her black hair shining like silk.

Inwardly, I sneered at the coincidence.

Bianca followed my gaze and her face contorted into an unpleasant expression, "Why on earth are they here!"

Perhaps, it was the tremor in her voice that caught Frank's attention, and he turned his head to find us, his expression immediately growing stern.

I met his gaze momentarily before nonchalantly shifting my eyes away, guiding Bianca as I prepared to rise and leave.

Yet, at that moment, a saccharine voice whispered in my ear, "Gloria, you're here too."

Emily had approached them while speaking, her lips adorned with a gentle smile, and her eyes fixed on me, her raised eyebrows portraying an innocent curiosity.

Silently, I chuckled to myself. Who would have guessed that this seemingly tender and well-mannered woman and her father had almost trapped me in a precarious situation?

My inner wolf growled, itching to expose her deceitful facade.

Smirking, I remarked, "You've left the hospital so soon? After three years confined to a bed, you're already walking on your feet? It's nothing short of a medical miracle!"

Emily's face flushed with momentary embarrassment, but she quickly regained her composure and turned to Frank, her sweet smile in place, "I owe my recovery to Frank; he ensured I had the best doctors attending to me all these years. His unwavering support brought me back to life."

I couldn't help glancing at Frank, offering a smile, "I never knew my ex-boyfriend's love had the power to perform medical wonders! Perhaps he should have pursued a career in medicine."

Frank's expression turned cold at my words, "Look, I don't care what game you're playing here, but please watch your words!"

Observing Emily's reaction to his defense, I couldn't resist a few moments of mocking before speaking coldly, "Emily aspires to be your Luna, and if your feelings are so profound, why haven't you married her yet? Or is it because...you still have feelings for me and can't bring yourself to accept her?"

Emily blushed and began, "Gloria, you..." but her words trailed off, unable to form a proper retort.

Frank's reaction was evident; my unexpected response caught him off guard, freezing him momentarily. His once warm eyes turned icy in an instant.

"Don't flatter yourself," he retorted, "let's go."

Realizing that Frank intended to take Emily away, I instinctively reached out to stop him. "Why not reject me now, under oath? It would be better for both of us."

Emily turned to Frank, anticipation evident on her face. Regrettably, he remained silent, causing her expression to shift to one of teary-eyed disappointment.

"Frank, why? Is what she said true? You don't want me at all?"

A flicker of panic flashed in Frank's eyes. "Emily, it's not like that, I just..."

Without hesitation, Emily wiped her tears and spoke with a serious tone.

"Frank, I understand. I'm sorry for causing a rift between you two. I'll step aside and let you explain things to her properly. I won't bother you both again in the future."

And with that, Emily turned around and left.

Frank's stern gaze bore into my face, as sharp and cold as a sword. "I'm occupied at the moment. My Beta will contact you. Be prepared."

After his words, he rose from his seat and followed after Emily.

Bianca stood there, her eyes filled with coldness. "Gloria! Breaking up with him was the right decision. He's a scummy guy who doesn't deserve you at all."

"Bianca, did you mention that Frank's wolf pack stands to lose tens of billions if they lose this match?"

Bianca froze upon hearing my words. "Yes, what about it?"

I peered out the window, my gaze unwavering and resolute. "Bianca, reach out to Alpha Edward and prepare to commence our mission."

Bianca gasped, her hand instinctively flying to her mouth. "Don't tell me that you're driven by the desire for vengeance and want to get back at Alpha Frank in this way."

A faint curve appeared on my lips, but the smile did not extend to my eyes. "No. In matters of business, emotions have no place. I just find solace in the art of combat, and it's merely a passion of mine."
