Chapter 10 The Conflict

Gloria's POV

After a while, I whispered, "I want to go back home."

Edward rose thoughtfully and offered, "Allow me to walk you." He led me out with grace.

At the door, Edward spoke softly, "I'll fetch the car and come back. Are you fine on your own?" His voice was laden with concern and care, akin to soothing a nervous and helpless kitten.

I smiled and replied, "You needn't worry about me. I'm better now, better than ever."

I spoke the truth; three years of love had not brought me happiness; rather, it had bound me like chains. Now, at this moment, I felt liberated.

In the doorway, I stood quietly awaiting Edward's return, while a few people around me occasionally cast glances my way.

"Gloria."

It was Emily. My gaze turned slightly cold, unwilling to pay any heed.

Emily took a step towards me and feigned concern, "Gloria, are you okay?"

Deep within, I couldn't help but smile coldly. This was Emily's forte; even if she disliked someone, she never showed it. Instead, she exuded elegance
