Chapter 7: Seducing The Beast

Cage was on his feet at the instant because they had attacked us without delay. I was still on the seat as Cage blocked them off. He was getting outnumbered, and we would slowly start to lose. I broke the bottle on the table against the wall and stood at his side. I had no idea what I was doing, but when our backs touched, I knew I had to protect him.

I stood with the broken glass held out in defence. Cage and I bid time. The others snarled at us, too. Their eyes were completely as black as night.

"You should have just stayed put, Blue."

"I came to help."

"You are not actually helping."

We were bantering, forgetting the main point of why we were even here and the dangers around us. It was always easy to lose focus while around him. I just realised this fact.

"We can't stay here. Let's clear out a carriage and lock ourselves in until the ride is over. They shouldn't be able to get past these steel doors."
