Chapter 24: Tripped

Blue

I dozed on the chair, my body trying to catch up on the hours of lost sleep from yesterday night on the hard bed.

I sat in a chair facing the reception area in the center of the lobby. There was a row of long benches facing the reception area and I had picked one, several other people had since joined me on the bench.

I yawned again, staring at the clock behind the receptionists as I wondered why Ever wasn't out yet. It was already four in the evening and I had to be back at the shelter by six at least.

No. No matter what, I wouldn't go back to that place.

I had to convince Ever. All of this was mine anyway, so why was I suffering?

In a different body, or in my body, it was still all the same. I was Blue Meyer.

The elevator doors opened with a ping and Ever walked out, her long legs moving away from me so fast. She looked gorgeous in a knee length halter dress that had no place in the workplace. Her hair hung down in curly braids and she was absorbed in her phone.
