Chapter 23: Freedom is A Bitch

I swiped at my face to make sure I was seeing right. He was standing in front of the door, just inside the doorway while I faced him, trying to get out.

"You." I breathed, my brain trying to figure out what the hell was going on.

I'd seen this jacket before, I realized. He was wearing a brown jacket, with frayed arms.

He'd been the one in front of me on the line last night. I gasped. "How long have you been following me?"

He looked at me, and I finally saw his face in the bright light of day.

Brown hair was dark now. Perhaps the glow of the lantern in that din of a dungeon had made me think it brown, when it was black.

His eyes were brown though, and the thick eyebrows rose up and down as his lips tipped in frown. He sidestepped me, walking past me to one of the bathrooms. He entered a stall and slammed the door in my face, all the while staring stonily at everything else but me, and saying nothing.
