Chapter 22: Gone Girl

"Hey redhead! You're cutting!"

It took a beat before I remembered I was a redhead now.

I turned to glare at the voice, not sure what to say to the woman when I eventually saw the two kids she held in front of her.

She dropped their hands and came to me, moving into my personal space. She smelled of sweat and a bone deep tiredness.

"Some of us got here before you, and you think you can just cut and get in like that? Think you're smart?"she barked, her words landing directly in my face.

I stretched out a hand and pushed her back as she stumbled back two paces. "You're spitting in my face." I mumbled, wiping my face with the back of my hand.

I didn't want her to get louder than she already was.

She turned to the rest of the people on the line, waving her hands frantically at me. "She cut in. I saw her before, I was definitely before her on the line, how come she's now in front of me?"

I refused to speak to her. This was ridiculous enough as it is. I'd simply come here because I didn
