CHAPTER THREE.

CHAPTER THREE.

She had a short temper and it only made it easy for Ron to pick a fight with her.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"You were just flirting with Felix like a cheap whore." He said.

She gasped. She had clearly not expected him to call her that. Her face darkened more. That was what he wanted.

"How dare you call me a whore?" She sparked at him.

He did not say anything. He shoved his hands in his trouser pockets and stood straight, looking forward into the room. His plan was going fine and she walked away from him. Just how he wanted it. He went inside the room and got talking with some people he recognized. The room was filled with influential people, people of his class and he knew many of them. He talked and drank just alittle and when it was time for his speech, Felix did not forget to acknowledged the company that supplied the building materials and made the beautiful interior design. Ron waved at the crowd. They knew where to come now if they had any building matters and interior designs that needed to be done. He got a lot of potential clients there, others promising to visit but others wanted the job done immediately and were ready for the contract. He was glad he came.

The launch was over in no time but the people were much and he had a lot of people to talk to. When he finally finished talking to people, he looked around the almost empty large room, looking for Lauren. She had to get back home. He spotted her, she was sitting at a corner, sulking. He knew why and he knew what he was expected to do, beg for forgiveness. But he would not. She was at a loss now. He walked over to where she was sitting and stood infront of her.

"I am leaving." He said.

She did not speak. She just sat there, looking straight ahead.

"I said..." He started to speak before she cut him off.

"Apologize." She said.

He scoffed mockingly. She was rude and a rich brat. He looked at her and her brown eyes stared back at his dark ones.

"Are you coming or not?" He asked her again.

"Apologize!!" She spoke again.

Her voice was high. He did not say any other thing, he just turned around and started walking away, out of the room. She called his name behind him but he did not stop, he was not one she could just control. He was not at her beck and call. He was almost at the door when he heard footsteps behind him, the noise of heels on the floor. He knew she was the one and he fastened his pace, she fastened hers too. They got to the parking lot and she finally spoke.

"Hey, wait for me." She shouted.

Her voice echoed in the place and he stopped. He turned around to face her. Her face wasn't dark anymore and he was sure she was down from her high horse.

"What?" He asked, feigning anger in his voice.

"Just take me home." She replied, equally in an angry tone.

He did not say anything else. He walked over to the drivers seat and she got into the car. They sat in silence and he started the car. The engine roared and soon, they were on the road, driving to her house. They did not speak to each other all through the drive, she kept a straight face and it was a win for Ron. He did not want to speak with her.

"Are you seriously not going to apologize to me for calling me a whore?" She asked.

That was the first time she spoke during the ride. She was still angry about the issue and her tone gave her away. He did not speak. He just kept mute, driving. It infuriated her so much and he knew it but he liked it. They did not speak after that and when they got to her house, she angrily came out of the car and jammed the car door. Walking away angrily. He whined down the window and stuck his head out.

"Tell your parents I said hi." He shouted out.

She did not respond. She kept walking till she got into her house and he whined up the window and started the engine. He drove out of the house. He looked at his wrist watch, the time was 11:55 PM. He knew he would be getting home by midnight, traffic was heavy.

He got to his house and when he parked his car in the garage and stepped out, he looked at his watch again. The time was 12:55 PM. The ride from Lauren's house to his was just a twenty minutes drive but traffic was heavy. He walked into the house and he saw his mother. She was sitting on one of the couches, he walked over to where she sat and kissed her cheeks. He asked after his father, the man had gone to bed. He knew why she was still up, she always stayed up waiting for him if he was away at night. She stood up from the couch and hugged him, wished him goodnight and walked upstairs to her room. He went upstairs too, to his room.

He got inside the room and immediately he had his clothes in the laundry basket, he went to bed. Silently praying for a good night sleep. He was honestly tired of the nightmares. He closed his eyes and when his eyes felt heavy, he did not fight it

***********

Her eyes flicked open and although she was not panting heavily, beads of sweat covered her face. She sat up on the bed and her hand reached out to the switch on the wall beside her bed. She turned on the lights and it came on. She buried her face in her palms, tiredly. That was not how she wanted to wake up, it was not how she was supposed to wake up. She raised her head again and pushed her dark hair back, she rubbed her face gently. Her phone started ringing and she reached under her pillow and took it. She looked at the screen, it read "Delores." It was her manager. She received the call and kept the phone on her left ear.

"I was just calling to know if you will still be going for the shoot of Lush hairs." Delores spoke immediately the call was answered.

She was and she told Delores. She imagined the girl jotting down her answer.

"And how about that date with that guy, what's his name again?" Delores asked.

"Ray." She replied.

"Ah yes. Ray." Delores spoke.

Ray was a another male super model in the industry. The guy had a huge crush on her and she knew it. The guy never made his interest in her a secret. But she did not like him. He had a great body, a large rock hard chest and firm abs. His face was priceless and girls were quick to fall in love with him. He had the charm too. But still, there was something about the guy that she did not like. When he finally asked her for a date, she did not refuse him. She had never refused first dates but she never went on second dates. She was that heartless.

"How was your night? I hope you did not have those nightmares again?" Delores asked.

She rubbed her forehead gently. She was getting frustrated about the nightmares.

"I did." She answered the girl.

"Oh Sarah, I have told you to see a psychologist honey. Should I book an appointment?" Delores asked.

The girl sounded worried on the phone. Sarah could imagine her with her pen in her hand, ready to note an appointment if she said yes. She wondered why the girl never used a laptop or tablet for her jottings.

"No don't. I do not want to." She told the girl.

She did not want to. Her parents had already taken her to the best psychologist in town when she was younger but the nightmares did not stop. She was on pills too but they still did not stop. She was done visiting doctors and psychologists.

"Okay honey. But do not forget that your flight is by ten in the morning and you will be flying back to town by five in the evening and then your date with that guy... Mmmhhh...."

"Ray."

"Ah yes Ray. I keep forgetting his name. You have a date with him by nine in the evening."

"Okay Delores. Thank you."

"Welcome."

She cut the call and kept her phone on the bed. She took the clock that was beside her bed and looked at it, the time was 5:55 AM. She sighed deeply. Her flight was still by ten so she had time to sleep again. She curled back to the duvet.
