CHAPTER FOUR

CHAPTER FOUR.

She woke up again but this time she was not sweating nor was she panting. The nightmares did not come. She sat up and stretched. She looked at the clock again, it was 7:45 AM. She rose from the bed and went out of her room. She was hungry and needed to eat. She walked to the kitchen and made cereal. She sat down at the dinning table and ate. She lived alone in the house. She had workers who occasionally come to clean and do the laundry. She finished the meal and went back to her room. She had a shower and got dressed, ready for her flight. She was wearing a black tight jeans and a loosed white shirt. Her long black hair was tied behind her in a ponytail.

A knock sounded on the main door and she knew who it was, Delores. She walked to the door and when she opened it, it was indeed Delores. The girl was as ready for the flight as she was. They exchanged pleasantries and when she looked at her wrist watch, the time was 9:00 AM. They still had an hour to the flight and she grabbed her black bag and sunshade black glasses and both women left the house. Delores came with a car but they took her car instead. The traffic was not as heavy as it has always been and when they arrived they arrived the airport, the time was 9:47 AM.

The flight was smooth and when she alighted, there was an official car sent to pick her up. She would not accept less. She was an extremely busy, sort after model and she needed the special treatment. Lush hairs were just a hair brand and she had nothing much to do, she just had to wear their wigs and pose for the camera. They got to the company building and she walked into the building when she came out of the car. She met with a receptionist who took her to the manager's office. The manager, a short round man with blonde hair. At a first sight, one would never think him a manager.

She met with the man again. It was the second time she was meeting the man. The first time was when she came to sign the paper contract. She and the man exchanged pleasantries, he was naturally a bubbly man. She liked him. He took her to the studio room and told her to have a great time. She was going to. The stylists did their job and she was given different types of wigs, she wore all of them one by one and posed for the camera.

By the time the photoshoot was over, it was evening and the manager took her and her manager to lunch and after the lunch, the official car took her back to the airport. She boarded her flight back home. The flight was smooth and she took her car from the airport where she had left it and she drove back home with Delores. It was just evening. Six o'clock.

"Cancel the date with Ray." She told Delores when she got home.

She did not want to go to the date anymore and when Delores asked her why, she told her the same reason. She did not want to go anymore. Delores walked to the black colored couch in the living room and sat down. Sarah went to the kitchen to prepare something for both of them to eat and when she came out of the kitchen hours later, she had in her hands, two plates of pasta in a tray.

Sarah walked to the living room and gently placed the tray on the table at the centre of the living room. She took a plate of pasta from the tray and walked to a different couch and sat down. Delores still had her jotter and pen in her hand, jotting things down.

"You never use an iPad Delores." Sarah stated fact.

"I'm just a paper person Sarah." Delores replied her.

"It will be easy with an iPad." Sarah insisted and Delores scoffed.

Sarah knew that scoff, it meant end of discussion and she left the girl alone and continued digging into her plate of pasta. The room went silent for a while.

"You have to attend the Colorado award tomorrow evening, you've been nominated for the best model of the year." Delores broke the silence.

The Colorado awards was an event that every influential person in the city looked forward to regardless of occupation because the award had different nomination categories.

"I know. Call Hannah and ask her if my dress is ready." Sarah replied.

Hannah was Sarah's fashion designer. She was the best in the city and also a good friend of Sarah's. Delores did not respond, she went back to her jotting and when she was done, she kept her things away and took her own plate of pasta.

*********

She fitted perfectly well in the black flowing dress. It had a turtle neck with no sleeves and it hugged her curves tightly and flowed on the floor, it was glittery and beautiful. It was the dress she was going to wear to the award giving event. She had her long black hair tied behind her in a ponytail and her feet fit perfectly well in a pair of elegant black heels. Her mild makeup enhanced her beauty and her diamond necklace and earrings sat on her neck and ears respectively. She looked beautiful and elegant dressed in black. She stood by the mirror and looked at her reflection, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

"Ready?"

It was Delores's question that made her open her eyes. The girl was standing behind her and she had her paper and pen in her hand. Sarah took another deep breath and turned around to face Delores. The girl smiled at her warmly and she smiled back, just what she needed, a warm smile to reassure her.

"How do I look?" Sarah asked the girl.

"As elegant and beautiful as always." Delores replied.

Her heels made her taller than the girl. She was taller than Delores even without the heels but the height difference was not so much, the girl was as tall as she was. She bent down to the girl and pulled her in for a hug. Delores grabbed her tightly and assured her that it was going to be alright. She wished it was. They disengaged from the hug and both of them walked out of the house together and into Sarah's car, Delores was driving.

*Clicks*

*Clicks*

The camera lights were blinding when Sarah stepped out of her car and stood on the red carpet. She was used to the clicks and the lights, the photographers and paparazzi, she knew what she had to do when it started clicking and she did it. Her lips curled up in a beautiful smile and she started walking on the red carpet slowly.

The hall looked packed already when she went inside. The event was yet to start and she was glad it was yet to start, she would take a break from the cameras and the lights. Sometimes, it sucked to be a model. She walked through the hall and when she found an empty seat, she went to it and sat on it. She turned to glance at the man sitting next to her and a glance turned to a stare. He looked like a god in that black suit that matched perfectly well with his jet black hair. His beard was neatly trimmed and he was looking forward while she stared. He suddenly turned to look at her and their eyes met. She was certain that it was her stare that made him turn to her. They stared at each other for a while before she spoke first.

"Hi. Good evening."

She stretched her hand and he took it in a hand shake and they both smiled at each other.

"Sarah. My name is Sarah Waves."

"Ron Diego."

His voice. It echoed like a voice of a god, masculine and deep. Sarah blinked faster and she felt nervous and stay the same time, she turned to look ahead too. She could feel the man's eyes on her and she badly wanted to turn around and look at him too, his handsome features and dark eyes.

"So what do you do?" Ron asked and watched as she turned to look at him.

He had a smile on his face when she turned to look at him again and she too could not help but smile at him.

"I'm a model. How about you?" Sarah replied.

"I'm a businessman, nominated for the businessman of the year." Ron replied and stretched his hand again, she took it in a handshake. "Nice to meet you Sarah."

The lights in the hall went off and the light on stage came on, the event had officially started.
