Confronted By Simone

Hayley

"I can't believe you did the unthinkable! Sleeping with your soon to be ex husband?" Amber screeched through the phone.

When she says it like that, it was really bad.

"I know I messed up big time. But you don't have to shout that loud, I'm at work."

"Sorry Hayley but you should have known better." She chastised me. Amber was Anti Kyle now. She hardly even said his name.

"Yeah I should have. I don't know what got into me." I whined dropping my head on my desk.

"You know what got into you. Too much alcohol." I knew she wasn't still happy with me.

That was true, I could hardly hold my alcohol. Got drunk easily so that why I always drink with friends.

"Yeah I should have called you to come get me." I apologized.

"You really need to be careful. What if a stranger had taken advantage of you? Like a creepy old nasty man or a serial killer? And then I will get to hear from the news that my best friend was murdered." Okay, Amber had a very over active imagination and I was already regretting why I told her everything.

"I am sorry. But Kyle was there. So nothing like that happened." I shuddered at the thought of some stranger forcing himself on me. I really needed to be cautious.

"Alright then. So how many times have you daydreamed about your night with Kyle?"

"Oh my gosh Amber. Please let me off the hook." I pleaded groaning in embarrassment and guilt.

Yeah I have done that numerous times. The way Kyle kissed me like his life depended on it, the way he took me fast and later more gently. How did I even remember most of the things we did?

I flushed in instant arousal.

"You have! You bad bitch! You are even doing it now." She laughed at me. I blushed furiously.

"Stop it. It doesn't mean anything. It was a silly mistake I made at a point of vulnerability." I assured myself.

"Okay, when are you going to clear up the air with him?" I kept quiet at that.

"So you are not going to talk with him?"

"No." I replied quietly.

"Hayley! Don't tell me you are serious."

"Say it." I sighed.

"Say what?"

"I know what you are thinking. That I am a freaking coward." Thankfully, I was at the office so neither of the twins was around to berate me for swearing.

I shook my head, the amount of money that has gone into the swear jar was enough capital to start a mini business. Courtesy of their favorite uncle Joe, my younger twin brother and only sibling.

Nah, just kidding. But it was almost enough.

"Well you will be a coward if you ignore this and not talk it out with him." She advised dragging out her words.

"Yeah for now." That would be my plan, pretend that it never happened till I was ready to talk about it.

"Okay at least you got something out of it." Her tone was sly.

"What?" I knew it was going to be something silly.

"You scratched your itch." She replied in a sing song manner.

"Seriously Amber." I had been on an unwilling dey spell after my separation with Kyle.

"Okay girl, just know that I've got your back and support you with whatever decision you make." She was serious now.

"And one more thing before I forget. Please do not tell Joe about this." Joe would definitely lose his cool if he hears about this.

"You think I will blab to Joe about this? Do you even know me?" She sounded offended and hurt.

"You know I didn't mean it like that. I am just being extra careful." I placated her.

"Okay. Just so you know I would never tell him." Even if she did, it wouldn't be intentional. Joe really brings out the worst in Amber.

"Thanks Amber but I have to go now." I saw Mary one of my junior colleagues through the transparent door of my office.

"Okay update me further when you finally have the balls to talk to Kyle." I rolled my eyes ending the call.

"Come in." Mary entered closing the door behind her calmly.

"Good afternoon ma'am. Here are the photographs that you requested for." She handed them to me.

I loved my job no matter how tedious and overwhelming it could be sometimes. I worked as interior decor designer and was a junior partner with the firm I was under.

It has taken me me ten years of grit, sweat and hard work to get here.

"When is the deadline?" I flipped through the photographs filled with pride looking at the different decors created by our top interior designers. This was going to be a hard decision.

"Next week Thursday ma'am."

"Okay, Mary you can go now." That was enough time to select the right one that will be featured on GQ's Decor front page.

I raised my head to see Mary still standing there as if expecting something.

"Do you need anything?" I asked her watching as an unknown emotion flashed through her face.

"Not really ma'am, but there is someone looking for you." She sounded tense.

"Really? Does this person have an appointment?"

"That's the problem ma'am. She doesn't have an appointment but claims she wants to see you for a personal reason." I frowned taking in her words.

"For a personal reason?"

"Yes ma'am." Mary nodded.

"Send her in." Mary let out a relieved sign and the left the office.

It might be one of those impossible clients who was possibly an elite.

And I couldn't have imagined right. It was worse, far worse.

"Simone?" I stood up from my chair and watched stiffly as she entered my office.

"Hello Hayley."

"What are you doing here?" I snapped with annoyance. The audacity for her to show her face here.

"I won't take much of your time."

Folding my arms, I looked at her with barely veiled resentment.

Happy that she didn't take a seat else I would definitely be throwing that chair away after her departure. That was how much I hated her and hate was a very strong word.

"Stay away from my man. Kyle doesn't want you anymore, he never wanted to be with you. He left you for me remember? And I would be stupid to let you come in between us after years of being separated."

Kyle dated Simone for 12 years but ended up marrying me when he was 32. After making a deal with his parents that his inheritance will be his after getting me pregnant after one year of marriage.

"What?" I reared back, too shocked to confirm if this was a joke. I should have known she was here to cause trouble.

"On for Chris sakes! Drop the act. You think I don't know? Kyle told me everything. How you shamelessly threw yourself at him and forced him to sleep with you." She snarked.

"Excuse me?" Now just did Kyle tell her? We were both willing participants. Does Kyle even know she is here embarrassing herself?

"I will not excuse you Hayley! You will not be excused! You whore! Home breaker!" Simone accused shrieking at me.

Thank God that my office was a little isolated from the others.

I couldn't hold it anymore. I burst into angry laughter.

"Whore? Home breaker? How ironic of you to call me that? When was it ever stated that it was a crime to sleep with my own husband? If anyone is the slut, it is you." I retorted obviously done with her bullshit. I was the other woman at some point but we are married.

"Kyle is no longer your husband. Or did you forget you are going to get divorced? I am finally going to marry him when that happens. A pity your kids won't be attending the wedding." She smirked at the slight intake of breath I released.

They were getting married? Just six months..

I took a deep breath. I won't let this woman poison my thoughts.

"Ams I would have it that way." Kyle haven't made any move to introduce Simone to the kids. And I was extremely thankful for that.

"I won't warn you again this calmly. Let Kyle be, we don't need anymore trouble for you."

"One more thing Simone, tell Kyle to bring it on

. I will see you both in court."

Simone stormed out without a retort jamming the door hard.
