Bar Intervention

Hayley

And I couldn't be more grateful that today was Friday, #TGIF. Like for real, this week has been pretty crazy for me. Sleeping with Kyle, confronted by Simone and dinner with his mom? Super crazy.

And now I was here chilling at a bar but not without Amber.

And I had someone watching the kids. Tammy was a sweet teenage girl who lived not too far from out house.

"Why can't men just take a hint?" She moaned for the nth time downing a third margarita.

The male bartender chuckled pouring us new sets of drinks.

"I would slow down on those drinks if I were you." I advised Amber who was pouting terribly.

"You would say that because you weren't the one left standing at her porch like a fool. Waiting for a man to kiss her."

I couldn't help myself, I burst into laughter until I was silenced by a pointed glare from Amber.

"I am sorry I can't help it. It's just so funny." I apologized taking a sip from my glass.

"And what's so funny?" She questioned unsmiling. And I had to comport myself again before I was smacked on my head.

"You are not one to let a man take the lead. You go for it, what's so different about this one?" Genuinely curious, I asked her.

Amber loved being in control, having OCD made it even worse.

"My fault for liking an extremely British man. He was just.. too gentlemanly. Likeeeee? I was giving him enough green lights to point out that I wanted him. And dude was like, I will see you on our next date and left without a single kiss or peck. Like what kind of a man does that? Do you think he's virgin." She asked me.

"Amber.." I tried replying but also suppressing my laughter.

"Don't even think about it." She warned lightly. Bottling it all up, I responded like any responsible bestie would.

"Or maybe he's just trying to know you more?" I suggested.

"Nah, that's BS. He's playing mind games with me." Amber nodded.

I shook my head, I swear Amber's profession as a lawyer always made her suspicious. Thank God she wasn't a divorce attorney, that would have made her a sadist at heart.

"And you still like him?" My voice was filled with questionable doubt.

"Chill,Yeah I do. Don't know why but it's not like I am going for anything serious. Maybe because of the mysterious air around him. His dark eyes.." She breathed.

"And his posh accent?"

"That had me weak in the knees too. I need to cool off." She fanned herself with her hands.

"But you are still going on that second date right?"

"Yeah going to give him a second chance to redeem himself and knock me out with an orgasm or two." She winked when I made a barf face.

"And when that happens, please remember to keep the details to yourself." I scrunched up my face.

"I will definitely be telling you just to see that expression again. Now enough about me, how was your lunch date with Kyle's mom?"

I let out a long drawn out groan.

"Did you think I was going to let you off that easily. Now spill." Wiggling her brows at my

"You know the basics. Complaining about the usual, Kyle and my separation. Then cussing a little at Simone for breaking us up. And then pleading with me to try and get back with Kyle." I sighed.

My mother in law was really a piece of work.

"And will you consider.." I didn't really let her finish.

"No I rather let them be together, they both deserve it. Less room for unwanted drama." I would only retaliate if Kyle files for custody of that kids. That was where I drew the line of being peaceful and not retaliating.

"And Hayley from three years ago will be disappointed." We chuckled at that.

"She sure will. Falling for the wrong man." I let out a self depreciating chuckle.

"Now I feel bad for bringing this up when we are supposed to be relaxing."

"No, it's fine." I assured her.

"A toast to leaving things behind in the past where they belong."

We clinked glasses together downing the drinks in one gulp.

Lots of drinks down, Amber and I were giggling like drunk cheerleaders. We were buzzed but not wasted. Our wits were still with us and were presently chatting with two guys who were friends.

Luke had paired up with Amber while Jake stuck with me.

"So what do you do Hayley?" Jake asked me with too much interest.

"I am an interior designer." I replied with a shy smile.

"That's cool. I am a civil engineer." He offered.

"That's nice." I nodded.

"So.." Amber loud burp and a quiet apology cut off Jake mid sentence drawing our attention.

"Have to go to the restroom." Amber announced.

"Should I accompany you?" Luke asked with concern.

"No. Don't worry Luke, I can go by myself."

Luke looked at me for assurance.

"She will be fine. She knows her way around here." We were long time customers of this bar.

"Okay." Amber left.

Knowing that she will take that as an opportunity to sober up by splashing water on her face.

"So where was I?" Jake turned back to me.

"You left me at so?" I teased.

We both shared a laugh at that.

"So Hayley, how about you go on a date with me?" Jake asked with a serious tone.

My eyes widened. A date with him? Likeee, I just met him twenty minutes ago and though it was nice having a harmless conversation with him.

I didn't really find him attractive. Don't get me wrong, he was attractive but not my type.

And if I even wanted to go on a date with him, I won't be able to. My life was a complicated mess.

"Too direct I guess?" He smiled shyly displaying a cute set of dimples.

"Yeah." I chugged down another margarita.

"Then how can I warm you up to me?" His much larger hand covered mine.

And now I wanted to chug down another margarita for a whole different reason. I was having butterflies in my tummy.

I take back what I said about Jake not being my type, the man could turn up his game when he wanted to.

"Get your hands off her." A voice growled from behind me and froze when I twisted to the side to see Kyle.

"You know this man Hayley?" Jake asked gaze bouncing between Kyle and I, hand still on my shoulder.

My buzzed senses made me too shocked or slow to reply.

"That's my wife.."

"Wife?" Jake's eyes bulged in disbelief.

Another man joined the array asking for Amber. Jake's friend simply pointed to the bathroom.

I couldn't comprehend that as I was still assimilating the fact that Kyle was here and acting like a Netherdal.

Feral expression and tense stance to match.

"Mother of my twins and if you don't remove your hand from her shoulder. We will be ending the night with you either in the hospital, collar bone displaced or six feet under and I in a jail cell." Kyle deadpanned yanking me out of my seat.

With every word that came out of Kyle's mouth, Jake paled in alarm.

Too stunned to make sound, Kyle's right muscled arm wrapped around my waist.

"Let's get out of here Jake." Luke suggested licking his lips nervously.

"Great idea. Do what your friend says and you won't get hurt." Kyle challenged Jake.

It wasn't an empty threat. Kyle goes to the gym like it's a religious practice. He was muscularly built but not in the way of a gym freak. Moderately defined abs and pecs, strong looking arms

And he also boxes for fun. Right now he looked ready to box Jake's face in.

"Knock it out boys." The bartender moved to our side of the bar when things were heating up.

They held eye contact for a moment, Jake looked over then glanced over at me.

"I will see you around Hayley." He nodded tensely.

I nodded back and watched as they left.

The shock must have worn off from my system as I detached myself from Kyle and landed a harsh slap to his face.

"How dare you?" Everyone must be looking at us even though the bar wasn't packed today. I even heard a few gasps from the side.

"Mate you alright?" The man that had asked about Amber's whereabouts was back with Amber who was glaring daggers at Kyle.

"Yeah I am fine." Kyle answered with clenched teeth.

"We are off." The unknown dude said.

"What do you mean you are off? Amber?" I questioned looking at him then Amber who looked a little sheepish and more sober.

"I know him. It's fine Hayley. He is the Brit." My mouth was agape.

The Brit? And I have to give it to her. He was really attractive.

"Call me when you get home." She glanced pointedly at Kyle before leaving with her Brit.

"We good here?" The bartender asked glancing

"Sure Hermes. Thanks man." Kyle nodded at the bartender who he was on a first name basis with.

I shook my head. I was done and I was leaving.

"Anytime man." I didn't stay to hear Hermes' response as I stormed out of the bar angry.

I didn't have to look back to know that Kyle was fast behind my heels.

"Hayley get in the car." Kyle ordered.

"What do mean get in the car?" I moved out of his range so he wouldn't grab me.

"It means I'm taking your drunk ass home in my car." He deadpanned.

Was he for real? I was leaving here on a taxi and not his car. I left my car at my company's parking lot

"And who told you that I'm drunk?" I fired back. I was 25% but fully coherent for this conversation.

"Letting another man touch your hand while giving him the bedroom eyes that are normally reserved for me. You get extremely horny when you are tipsy for fucks sakes!." He yelled back at me stunning me into silence.

"Not that it's none of your business." I sneered back.

"I won't ask you again Hayley. Get. In. The. Car." He gritted out.

And I didn't know when we moved closer to each other. One inch forward, Kyle's nose would be bopping mine if he leaned closer.

"I won't let you boss me around." I breathed out shakily.

He closed the last bit of space between us, my chest pressing against the upper part of his torso.

"We both know you like it when I boss you around."

And this was what I was scared of. Me being alone with Kyle Banes my estranged husband.
