Chapter Seven

"Are you done with the investigation of the number I sent to you last week?" William asked, gazing at Mr. Smith.

Mr. Smith was the assistant secretary of William.

"No sir, I lost my phone the day you sent it to me," Mr. Smith said.

William looked at him from head to toe and hissed.

"Since last week, you haven't told me you lost your phone. Are you out of your mind?" He said angrily.

Mr. Smith kneeled down before him.

"I'm very sorry, please forgive me," he said.

William took his jacket, his car keys, and got out of his office. Mr. Smith ran after him.

"I'm so sorry for what I did, sir. Please forgive me, Sir. I promise that I'm not going to repeat something like this anymore," Mr. Smith said, running after him.

Suddenly, William stooped. He turned back and said, "Old man, Can you just find a place to sit? I said that I have heard you. Do I look like I'm angry?"

Mr. Smith stopped running after him. Then, he said, "I'm very sorry, sir. Please forgive me."

William went to his house. Upon arriving, he didn't find his wife at home.

He decided to give her a call. He called her number twice, but she didn't answer. Then, he picked up his phone and called his manager.

"Hello, Manager. How are you doing?" William asked.

"I'm fine, sir," he replied.

"I'm sending a number to you now. Help me trace it and tell me the location," William said angrily.

"Okay, sir," the manager replied.

William ended the call and headed to the bathroom. It had been over a week since his wife had been going out.

"What's this girl planning? Is she doing something I'm not even aware of?" He mused to himself.

After taking a shower, he called her again, and this time she answered.

"Hello, Emialia. Where have you been all this while? What's wrong with you?" William asked.

"I'm with my mother, William. Do I have to tell you before I visit my mother?" She asked.

"Just come home right away. I have a serious issue I want to discuss with you," he said.

Emialia replied, "I said that I'm busy right now, William. I used to visit my mom once per month. Why can't you allow me to spend more time with her? Do you want to talk to her, or why did you say that I should come home after a while?"

William responded, "I'm not saying you shouldn't stay with your mom or relatives, but I need to discuss something important with you. Just come home."

"It seems you are feeling horny, right? You want me to give you sex again. It's only when you want to have sex with me that you will be doing as if you care," she said.

"Okay then. I'm going to call you back," William said and cut the call.

"What exactly has gotten into her? How dare she drag things with me on the phone?" William mused to himself.

He breathed heavily and quickly opened his messaging app. He sent Emila's number and the number he saw on her phone to his manager.

Then, he started reading the newspaper.

Suddenly, a call rang on his phone. He picked it up.

"Hello, manager. Have you tracked the numbers?" He asked.

"Yes, sir. The two numbers are in Riches Restaurant near the United Bridge," the manager replied.

"Okay, thanks," he replied.

William was surprised. He knew for sure that Emila's mother's house is far away from the United Bridge.

"Then, how come she's there, and who's Allesandra?" He asked himself.

He quickly put on his clothes and went to Riches Restaurant. When he got there, he didn't get out of his car. He called Emilia.

Meanwhile, Emialia was busy talking with Allesandra on how to bring William down.

"Wait, Emilia. I heard you say that he only cares for you when he wants to have sex with you. What's that?" Allesandra asked.

"I don't know the reason, but I guess that he is just using me as a sex toy. This is one of the reasons why I feel like bringing him down," Emilia said.

"Yes, that's what you need. That's why you need to hand me over some evidence you have so I can continue investigating the matter. Time is going already," Allesandra said.

Emilia looked at her for a while. Then, she said, "But what's going to happen if he knows? Are you ready to face the consequences if any of the information leaks?"

Alessandra was silent.

"You won't want to take the blame, right?" Emilia asked.

"It's not like that. I'm going to try my best to make sure that it didn't leak. Just trust me, Emilia," Allesandra replied.

Emilia smiled gently. Then, she said, "I trust you so much, but what's going to happen if I give you the evidence now and it leaks later? Are you ready to take the blame?"

Allesandra smiled.

"It can't leak in any way. I'm going to protect it with my life, Emilia," Allesandra said.

"Are you saying that you are going to take the blame?" Emilia asked.

Allesandra was silent again. Emilia looked at her and smiled a little.

"It's true that you are a well-known journalist, but you are dealing with a mafia boss. You are dealing with my husband," Emilia said.

"Then, are you going to bring him down by yourself?" Allesandra asked.

"How? I can't do that," Emilia said.

"Why? You have the evidence to do so. Why are you afraid of doing it? Or are you scared of taking the blame?" Allesandra said.

"I just can't do it. That's why I messaged you so we can collaborate on bringing him down," Emilia said.

"Then why can't you hand me over the evidence? What are you scared of?" Allesandra asked.

"It's actually not like I'm scared," Emilia replied.

Allesandra gazed at her for a while and she laughed.

"You are scared that the evidence is going to leak in my hands, isn't that right?" Allesandra asked.

"Hmmm… Yes. That's why I asked you if you are ready to take the blame," Emilia said.

"If you really trust me, I'm going to do my best to protect the evidence. It's not going to leak in any way. Just have trust in me," Allesandra said.

"Alright then. You can go through the ones I brought first," Emilia said, as she put her hands inside the bag she carried.

As she was about to bring them out, William's call came in.

"Excuse me, Allesandra. Let me quickly pick this call," she said.

Allesandra nodded in agreement and said, "No problem."

Emilia quickly picked up the call.

"Hello, Emialia. Where are you right now?" William asked.

"I'm still with my mom, William. Is something wrong?" Emialia replied.

"What's the name of the place you are with your mom?" William asked.

"Ohh…. We are in Venice Beach right now," Emilia replied.

"A beach?" William asked.

"Yes, dear," Emialia replied and cut the call.

William chuckled.

"Why is she lying?" William mused to himself.

He quickly got out of his car and entered the Riches Restaurant. He saw Emilia's face but didn't see the other woman.

He snapped a picture of them and returned to his car.

"Maybe she wants privacy," William mused to himself, thinking that Emilia is with her mother.

Suddenly, his manager called him. He picked up the call.

"The second number that you gave me belongs to a well-known journalist. Her name is Allesandra," he said.

"A journalist? With Emilia?" William said as he cut the call.

Meanwhile, Emilia had already handed some of the evidence to Allesandra.

She picked up a glass of water on the table and took a sip. She hadn't swallowed when a message suddenly popped up on her phone.

Checking it, she began to sweat.

"I'm done," she said as she stood up and ran out of the restaurant.
