Chapter Twenty

Mara was dumbfounded, curious, angry, and sad at the same time. She sat down on the floor and picked up the shoe.

She's one hundred percent sure that the shoe belongs to her father.

"What could have been wrong? And who's the owner of the shoe that's in your hand?" Thomson said, moving closer to Mara.

Mara couldn't say anything; she kept staring at the shoe. She couldn't believe it. Everything looks like an illusion to her.

"Is that your father's shoe? Are you sure that he's the owner?" Thomson asked again, gazing at Mara's mouth, waiting for her to give him a reply.

Mara was deep in thought already. She remembered the day her father bought the shoe. It was his favorite.
