Fourteen

Amoux’s POV

It wasn't long when Eira and Carla came out of their room with a big pack.

I instantly frown, they don't actually have to take clothes with them because everything they need will be provided for them in Deep Water.

“Eira, I think you only have to take any herbs that you think might be useful for the Alpha King’s illness, and just a cloth because you will be provided with anything you want. You are our guests.”

“Really? Oh I don't know. I will go and reduce my stuff, ” Eira replied and went back inside her room.

Carla also nodded her head and went back into her room too.

When they came out again, they were only holding a small pack. I nodded and looked at Mr. & Mrs. Ralph.

“We will be leaving now. I will go outside and shift first, they can join me when they are done.” I said to Carla and Eira.

“Alright, Grand Beta.” They replied in unison.

I bobbed my head and strolled out of the house. I went to the backyard to undress and shift to my wolf form.

It wasn't long when I saw two wolves coming out of the house.

A white wolf and a brown dotted wolf.

I was able to distinguish that the brown dotted wolf was Carla while the white wolf was Eira.

I growled and gestured to the East and galloped into the forest with the two sisters on my heels.

We galloped and galloped in the thick forest till the sunset and the night broke.

I wasn't tired because I was used to it. I was able to complete the journey from my pack to their pack within a day but I knew that they couldn't.

They weren't even able to keep up with my pace. I had to slow down so many times for them.

Eira was able to keep up for a while but Carla was totally slower than I imagined.

Their wolves weren't like the she-wolves in Deep Water that can run 500km within 40 minutes. I could see that Eira and Carla with the rest of the females in their pack weren't raised to be warriors like in Deep Water.

After some hours of running, I hunted down some rabbits and shared them with the girls.

I wasn’t able to mind link them because they weren't from my Pack and it was a hassle.

I almost winced in frustration.

I tore the rabbit with my sharp canines and shared pieces of it with the two girls

I watched them eat and after some time I turned my head in the East again. Growling for them to follow.

I was careful not to be too loud because I'm Beta and they were just normal wolves, so as not to scare the shit out of them.

I watched the two girls slowly stand up on their paws and we started galloping in the forests again.

If I could mind link them, I would have told them that we will soon arrive in the Pack before Deep Water.

But I couldn't, so we started galloping and galloping till I could see the sign board of Alpha Ryan’s Pack.

I didn't tell him that I'm coming, so I can't just bring the girls in. If they entered the pack like this we might be suspected to be rogues even without the scent..

I turned around and saw that the girls were catching up already. I quickly shifted back into my human form and dressed in the same cloth I was in when I left Crest Moon Pack.

The girls caught up with me around the time I came out of the forest, fully dressed.

The girls raised their heads up at me and sat on their butt in exhaustion.

“You guys wait here, I’m familiar with the Alpha of this Pack. I will go and talk to him first then come back for you girls. If we go in together, his soldier might hurt you guys unknowingly,” I explained to the she-wolves and waited till they both nodded their heads.

“In the meantime, you guys can change into the cloth you brought with you too, and keep them safe. I will be back soon,” I instructed and the white wolf nodded her head, but the brown-dotted wolf turned her head around and left.

Maybe she went to shift..

“I’m leaving now, ”

I said to the white wolf who I already identified as Eira and I quickly walked out of the forest in long strides.

When I got out of the forest and walked toward Alpha Ryan’s Pack, I noticed that the security was less and there were loud sounds coming from the Packhouse.

I could also hear wolves howling loudly in celebration.

Did Alpha Ryan give birth to a new pup?

His Luna wasn't pregnant the last time I came so it couldn't be that he gave birth to a new pup.

So what's the festive about?

“Hey, stop there! Who are you?”

I heard a voice behind me, and I turned around to see a man in a fighting stance.

I almost chuckled.

Just him?

And he thinks he can stop me from proceeding?

Even their Alpha had to show me respect.

I took a deep breath and opened my eyes to compose myself.

There's no point in fighting or arguing with a junior wolf and I was the one that trespassed.

“I’m Amoux Starhunter, Tell your Alpha that I am in his Pack.” I said to the young wolf.

But what I heard was a short laugh.

“How dare you ask our Alpha to come and pick you? Who do you think you are?” The young wolf scoffed at me.

Ah, here we go again.

I'm really too exhausted to exchange words with a young wolf right now.

“Tell your Alpha that the Grand Beta is at his border.” I relay carefully again to the young wolf now in a strong and authoritative voice.

This time, the young wolf didn't even try to hide his laugh.

“You? Grand Beta? Hahaha! Don’t make me laugh,”

I immediately felt my patience running out.

If anyone does not appear aside from this young wolf right now.

I will drag him till I get to his Alpha house.

“Blue, who are you talking to there?”

I turned around to where the voice was coming from and saw a middle-aged man come out of the same place as Blue or whatever his name was.

The girls were waiting for me back in the forest, I didn't have time to enjoy the games these two were playing.

“Chief, you need to hear who this guy says he is,” Blue said as he continued laughing throatily.

I ignored the young wolf and watched as the middle-aged man came forward to see if he was actually the Chief guard of Ryan’s Pack.

Because I'm familiar with the chief guard.

He should be able to recognize me even if he's blind.

When the chief guard came forward and saw me, he immediately greeted me, “Grand Beta, ” he bowed in respect.

I wanted to reply and call his name, but I found out that I didn't know his name, and I'd been calling him “Ryan’s chief guard” all this while.

Might as well just call him chief guard.

“Chief guard.” I nodded to acknowledge his greetings

I turned around to see the young wolf, who was now looking scared and whipped.

I haven't even taken it out on him yet and he was already like this.

If not that the girls were still waiting in the forest and I didn't want to enter Alpha Ryan pack with blood or forcefully, this young wolf here would have died because I told him who I was, but he still decided to believe in his idiocy.

At one point, I was confused that he just wanted to prove his authority as a guard.

And to whom did he think he could do that to?

In all the 27 Packs all over the world, all of them knew and respected me as the second in command to Reagan, but this young wolf right here ridiculed me.

“I want to see your Alpha, but first I have two girls waiting for me in the forest. I didn't come with them so we wouldn't look suspicious. I think I still look suspicious according to a certain wolf, ” I said sarcastically as I threw a cold gaze at the young wolf who cowered in fear.

The chief guard looked in the direction of my cold gaze too and shivered in fear.

“Grand Beta, please pardon Blue. He only acted this way because he was just recruited. He had no idea who you are and he would never have thought that the Grand Beta would really come to our Pack,” The chief guard quickly replied to me.

“Let’s just pick the girls up, I will deal with him later,” I said and turned around towards the forest again.

Eira and Carla are still waiting for me and they expected me to come early.

They were inside the forest waiting and exposed to any rogues or animals.

They were just young she-wolves. If they were attacked by rogues or other wild animals, I would never forgive myself.

I saw the chief guard also coming with me to the forest, and that was when I noticed that he wasn’t putting on the same cloth as the young wolf. It was the security cloth, rather, he was wearing a green-colored fabric that was fit for an event.

That was when I remembered the loud voices, wolves’ howls, and the festival sounds I heard as I got to their border.

“You are not wearing the usual security cloth?” I threw a gaze at the chief guard and asked slowly.

“No, I’m not.” He answered.

“Why aren’t you wearing it?” I asked again.

This time I could see that we were getting closer to where I left the girls some minutes ago.

“We were having a festival back at the Pack house today.”

“Oh, is that it?” I mumbled, checking around for any sight of the two girls.

“Yes, that’s it,” the chief guard nodded as he replied

“Carla?”

“Eira??”

I called out gently when we got to where I left them without seeing their figure.

Until after five minutes, the girls came out shifted and dressed.

I nodded as they strolled to where the chief guard and I were.

“Is this the Alpha?” Eira asked when she saw the chief guard.

I looked at the chief guard and saw that the moron was captivated by the two beauties in front of him and that he wasn’t still able to utter a single word.

“Hey?”

I nudged him to bring him out of his stupid world.

“Uhn?” The chief guard blinked when he realized that he couldn’t remember the question he had been asked.

“He’s the chief guard,” I answered Eira, helping the chief guard out of his mystery.

All this while, Carla didn’t utter a word.

She was just looking at everyone as if she was less interested.

“The chief guard?” Eira asked again.

This time, it was the chief guard that answered himself. “Yes, I’m the chief guard of this Pack,”

“I think we should start going, the girls are exhausted, we've been on our journey since noom,” I told everyone.

We all turned around and started walking toward the pathway that the chief guard and I just came back from.

When we got to the border again, the sounds of music and wolf howls got closer again.

Because I’ve been here earlier I wasn’t surprised by it but the two girls looked at me in question.

I looked around for the young wolf who was there earlier and saw that there wasn’t any trace of him.

Blue, that’s his name.

Even if he disappears to the deepest sea, I will find him.

“The chief guard says they are currently having a festival,” I said, explaining the situation at hand.

“It’s not just any festival, It’s the kind of festival that attracts mates together. As long as your mate is in the gathering, you would be able to find them,” The chief guard said, explaining further to the girls.

“Oh, no wonder everyone is excited and howling. Your words explained more about the excitement.”

“Yeah, thank you. The festival is only held annually. I think that's the excitement.” The chief guard answered.

“Would one still have to have sex before they ascertain that the other is their real mate?”
