Three months after…

“Elena! Elena!” Someone called out my name. I placed the watering can on the floor, removing the hat on my head as I turned to see who was calling out my name. A smile graced my lips as soon as I got a whiff of the tiny footsteps rushing my way.

“Careful, you might fall.” I say just as the child reached me, hugging my legs tightly. I giggled, kneeling to hug her.

“What’s wrong bey? Shouldn’t you be with Lily?” I asked the child, placing my fingers under her chin, tilting her head upwards slightly to meet my eyes.

“She’s being rude and won’t share her plushie with me.” She pouted and I smiled.

“Now, why won’t she share her plushie with you? What did you do wrong?“ I asked, the sharp glint in her eyes telling me she had done something.

“Beatrice!” Someone yelled agitatedly. I pursed my lips into a thin line on perceiving the scent of an anxious person.
