Chapter 3

It was already midnight when my father knocked on my door.

“Have you seen my boss’s son?”

I rubbed my heavy eyes as I replied, “Dad, who’s that?”

I had only slept for half an hour, so my head felt like mush.

“I was drinking with my boss yesterday and his son got drunk, so I took him back to our house. I didn’t see him when I came up, so I’m just asking if you’ve seen him.”

As my father said that, his gaze was wandering around my room.

I froze in place with my thoughts running around my head.

Boss’s son? Son?

The face of the teenage boy sleeping soundly out of exhaustion suddenly came into my mind.

My gosh. The sudden realization left me speechless.

“I-I didn’t see him.” I stole a glance at my bed while the shock from the sudden realization had woken me up completely. “I’m going back to bed.”

I slammed the door shut guiltily.

I took a few minutes to organize myself and walked to the bed nervously. I lightly tugged on his blanket.

“Are you asleep?” I tried my best to sound as gentle as possible.

He opened his eyes after a while and with his long arm, he pulled the blanket tighter around himself. “Want some more?”

I…

‘Do I look like a beast?’

“That’s not it.” I laced my fingers together, feeling perturbed. “I wanted to ask…”

“Let’s just sleep for a while longer.” He pulled me over and smoothed his hand over my hair, almost like he was comforting me. “I’m too tired.”

My heart tightened at his words. This was all just a big mistake.

“Do you want some water?” I wanted to compensate for how I treated him earlier.

He reopened his eyes and stared straight at me for a few seconds. “Tomorrow?”

I was not sure if I got the wrong idea, but what was he talking about?

My gosh. How was I supposed to ever face him again?

Since we were both battered and drunk, we were not in the right state of mind. I decided to get some sleep and think of a solution later.
