“Are you back in the country?” I could not help but ask Dylan.

“Mhm, wait a minute.”

When Dylan asked me to wait a minute, I felt like my pride had been hurt. I threw my phone away, swearing that I would not reply to his texts anymore.

It was 11:00 PM, and I was about to sleep when a call came.

It was Dylan.

I glanced at it and turned off the screen, not planning to answer it.

After a moment, Dylan called again.

I ignored it again. I wanted to show him the ugliness of human nature.

After a while, the calls finally stopped.

Hah, what a kid.

Just as I was feeling proud, I heard a knock on the door. It was my dad.

“Stephanie, why did you call Dylan? He said that you called him a few times, but you didn’t answer when he called you back. Moreover, it’s midnight…” My dad had dark circles under his eyes. He continued speaking while yawning, “Did you accidentally tap on his contact and call him?”

“Ah!” I was stunned and just replied, “Maybe.”
