Chapter 6

I ran to the door and placed my ear against it in an attempt to hear what was going on outside.

Who knew that the door would be pushed open by my mother instead.

“Why aren’t you up yet? Our guest is already up. Come out quick.”

What was going on?

I got dragged to the dining table and saw him lazily sitting there.

My father was enthusiastically serving him some pancakes, and even gave him a cup of soy milk.

My mother pushed me onto the chair, and I felt like I was sitting on thorns.

“Dylan, I’m not sure what you like for breakfast. Do you prefer milk or soy milk?” My father practically pushed everything on the table to him.

In front of me were just two lonely buns.

“Give it to sis. I believe she would like it.” He pushed the soy milk to me.

Could I be the only one having dirty thoughts? Why do I feel like he has a hidden meaning behind his words?

Suddenly, the atmosphere became a little awkward.

“You both…” My father glanced at him and turned to me, while I just kept my head down without saying a word. “Look at me! I forgot to introduce you both. This is my daughter Stephanie, and she’s… she’s six years older than you. Calling her sister is right.”

“Look how polite he is.” My mother stepped on my foot, implying that I should return the greetings.

A sharp pain arose from my foot, and I wondered if my mother forgot which one was her actual child.

So what if I was rude? He wasn’t polite at all.

“Hello,” I said awkwardly before adding, “Here, eat more.”

I pushed my buns to him.

He looked at me and raised his eyebrows without saying anything.

Instead, he picked up the buns and just stared at them intently with an odd smile instead of eating them.

That smile was so beautiful that it made me feel guilty.

Is he even human?

“Did you sleep well last night? I didn’t see you in the guest room, so I thought you left,” My father asked him warmly.

Instead of answering the question, he just stared at me.

‘Is the answer written on my face?’

I was completely innocent!

“I probably went to the bathroom.” He put down his fork and seemed as though he didn’t have any appetite. “I didn’t sleep too well at first, since I’m not used to sleeping anywhere else other than my bed.”

I was speechless. He slept like a log next to me last night. I did not even dare to move my hair.

“Oh my… I got drunk last night as well, so I couldn’t take better care of you. Please forgive me,” My father said in embarrassment, obviously an act due to his boss’s tyranny.

“It was hard at first, but I slept quite well afterward.” He smiled and looked at me.

‘*sshole. Why don’t you just say out loud what really happened? Why would you torment me like this?’ Teenage boys nowadays are really tough.

I survived breakfast with great difficulty. After breakfast, my father decided to send Dylan back home.

“Dad, just take a rest. I’ll send him.” I volunteered as I was afraid that he would sell me out.

“Sure… You youngsters have more in common anyway.” My father sounded a little awkward, probably wondering since when was I so proactive.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea. Uncle, can you send me back instead?” Dylan smiled as he rejected my offer.

Since he said that, my father naturally didn’t say anything else. He quickly finished his meal and left.

When he was washing up, I walked up to Dylan and asked softly, “Why don’t you let me send you back? What are you trying to do?”

He lowered his head and his lips were almost touching my face. “Next time. Let me get some rest first, okay?”

I was an old lady, yet his words made me flush furiously. I quickly stepped back.

“Stop messing around!” I warned him in a low voice.

“When did I…” He helplessly shrugged before adding, “If it wasn’t for you… last night… Who was the one messing around…”

Damn it. There was that smile again.

“Shut up!” I was dying to seal his mouth with tape.

“You were so wild last night, so why are you so shy today?” He stared at me intently and laughed harder.

“Get out…”

“I’m leaving.” He waved at me. “Don’t miss me too much.”

After saying that, he acted as though nothing happened and followed my father downstairs.
