Hundred and Fourty Seven

CARTER

"Did you ever look for me?" Alanna's voice echoed in the room, reminding me that I wasn't alone.

"Of course," I said, looking up from my laptop, "Why would you even ask me that?"

"Because, you know..." She drawled, a way of informing me that something was wrong.

"Why would you think such?" I pressed on, and this time, I shut my laptop, paying full attention to her.

"Because you're the Supreme Alpha," She replied, looking away, "And if you wanted to find me, it wouldn't have taken you a long time"

I sighed deeply, standing up to go sit beside her, "It wasn't as easy as it seemed." I divulged, "There was no clue on how to find you. Everything led to a dead end. I was so frustrated that I had to seek help from an outsider."

"Hailey?" Alanna asked, ignoring all the other words I had just said, "She was the one you asked for help right?"

I swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat at the mention of Hailey's name, and then I forced myself to reply, "Yes,"
