Chapter 1

Power. It was a dangerous thing. Once in the wrong hands, it would bring the world to its knees. Or it could have been used for the greater good but that was too boring, the destruction was much more interesting.

Being indestructible was what was dangerous. The darkness that filled him, the evil that was part of him, he was the devil himself that came straight from hell. Demons bow to him, and angels run from him.

He had his reasons of course. Who didn't? People do bad things when they're trying to survive. His smile was always halfway a grin and halfway a threat. Some ran from him, and some ran to him, they ended up dead though.

Illegal was too small of a word to describe what he did. Because as well as killers, he had formed hackers, drug dealers, con artists, money launderers, thieves, burglars, arsonists and psychopathic killers. He had it all. And was never caught once.

This man could light the world on fire and call it rain.

With whiskey swirling in the glass held by his gloved hand, he looked over files sent to him just that morning about some very important people who wanted other important people killed. Or assassinated, to put it in a more polite way. but either way, it ended with murder, his specialty. This job was just stupid rich people shit again, but that wasn't his problem, the money was.

A smirk grew on his face at the amount of money they were willing to pay, $500,000, for the mere killing of 3 people, easy money. It was honestly amusing to him how many grudges people held and for the stupidest things too. It was ridiculous, but good for him.

He brought the glass up to his lips and took a sip, placing the files down. He was now looking over his shipments for a new drug cartel to come to the LA harbour in a few days. Oh, how he loved it when things went his way. Everything was under his control, his power, his orders. And he would have it no other way.

A knock on his door caused him to look up from his laptop and towards the door of his office. He knew who it was, he had cameras all over the place and the screen was placed in his office, so he had eyes everywhere.

"Come in." He said, his voice deep, husky, monotonous as always. He leaned back in his chair as one of his best killers walked through the door.

"Mission complete." Was what the light black-haired male uttered. He was tall with shoulder length hair, slim and gorgeous, anyone would think so.

"Proof Alec?" Malakai asked with a raised eyebrow while Alec just rolled his eyes.

"I've been doing this for years Kai, still don't trust me?" Alec said playfully, they were also friends as well as work associates so joking around like that was something only Alec did. If it were anyone else, Malakai would have thrown a dagger at their necks for the disrespect.

"Rules are rules." Malakai replied with a hint of a smile, the serious demeanour would never leave. Alec took his phone out and showed him a picture. A man was lying in a pool of his own blood, a deep gash across his neck and a gunshot to his stomach.

"I doubt he would survive having his neck slashed open." Alec said sarcastically and Kai just nodded.

"Well, I'm leaving, I promised my girlfriend to take her out after she came back from Uni." Alec said with a smile on his face just thinking about the said girlfriend.

"I still think this whole relationship thing isn't a good idea when in this line of work. I don't think your girlfriend would appreciate the illegalness of it all." Malakai advised; he had been saying that ever since Hyunjin told him about it 3 months ago.

"It's only illegal if we're caught. Those are your words, Kai." And he left. He knew he should be careful though because Malakai was always right, and it was annoying.

Malakai had already warned him several times that if he ever found out, it would hurt both and it would never end well. At the same time, he couldn't really do anything since he never messed with his employees' (I guess) personal affairs. He was simply looking out for a friend.

He had known Alec for about 10 years, he'd been doing this business for 8 and Alec had always been there through it all. In fact, he was Malakai's first employee.

A rule that Malakai had though, was that his employees didn't know each other personally. The only time he'd allow that was if it was serious and they needed to work together. Apart from that, none of them know each other outside of work.

Malakai was also a perfectionist, he needed everything to be in order, his way under his control and under his power. That way everything was the way he wanted. He'd go insane if something wasn't, not insane like throwing shit around. Insane like going out and lighting a building on fire to make himself feel better.

One look into Malakai's eyes and you could see a dark abyss that would be ready to swallow anyone whole. Darkness, fire and ice was seen in those black eyes. That was probably what scared everyone and made them obey him.

The way Malakai started this whole thing was an unspoken topic. Let's just say he'd had a shitty childhood and he had to learn to fight monsters when he should've been playing with toy cars. He fought trauma and survived. Somehow, he always survived.

Not even Alec could stop him from creating this criminal empire, he couldn't stop Malakai from doing any of it.

Speaking of Alec, he walked down the building and exited into the busy streets of LA. LA was also one of those cities like New York and Vegas, cities that didn't sleep. Jam packed with people, everyone having different aims, but all had one unwritten goal, to live life. Alec's job was to end some of their goals.

Alec got into his car and drove towards UCLA, one of the best universities in the country, Alec couldn't be prouder of his girlfriend. He pulled up to the entrance right on time as he saw the blond girl with a friend of hers, Astrid, they were talking animatedly until Astrid went her separate way.

Eden saw the white Porsche her boyfriend drove, and an automatic smile made its way on her face. Her steps were quicker and soon she opened the door and sat in the car, not forgetting to give her boyfriend a kiss first.

"I told you that I didn't need picking up." Eden said but she knew Alec wouldn't listen.

"I know, but why walk when you have me to take you everywhere, even to the end of the world if you wanted me to." Alec said as he held Eden's hand, the blush on the blond became darker.

"Besides, I said I'd take you somewhere today and that's what I'm here for." Alec continued and Eden nodded, kissing him one more time until Alec started the car and drove to the destination that he had in mind.
