Chapter 5 Doing Something Impossible

"Then, what are we going to do? Every model is going up on stage in a while, so who is going to replace Monica?" As soon as Lucas brought Scarlett backstage, he heard the voice of a boss chiding a subordinate.

"This place isn't safe either. We'd better get out of here as soon as possible," Scarlett urged the little boy.

"She can replace Monica." Instead of leaving with Scarlett, Lucas pushed her toward the lady boss.

"Hm…" The woman looked at Scarlett's figure, giving her body a once-over. Scarlett had a figure that suited the standards of a model. If life hadn't forced her to become a lawyer, she would have chosen to be an international supermodel.

"Miss, the host is already rushing us."

The lady boss was desperate to find someone else, so she could only get Scarlett to be the replacement.

"I'll remember this, Lucas." Scarlett was forced into the dressing room by several wardrobe assistants. Lucas shrugged his shoulders, acting as if he had no choice.

"Next, please enjoy the finale of today's fashion show."

As soon as the host on the stage finished speaking, applause thundered throughout the venue. Sitting in the first row under the stage was a man, all snuggled up on a large and comfortable chair, waiting for the moment he had been looking forward to.

"The theme of today's fashion show is wedding dresses. Right now, 25 beautiful ladies will be showcasing the most popular and prettiest wedding dresses of the year. The spotlight will be on Monica Winters, who is wearing Dusk Skyline, a dress designed by Jonathan Leonard, the president of Leonard Corporations."

With the host's introduction, the models stepped onto the stage wearing wedding dresses—the symbols of happiness. The person in charge of the wardrobe kept signaling to the host on stage, but she couldn't catch his words.

Dusk Skyline was specially designed by Jonathan as a proposal to his girlfriend, Monica. But they, without authorization, had decided for Scarlett to replace her. And now that the host had made the introductions, they would be in great trouble if Jonathan found out what happened.

Scarlett had never been on such a big stage, nor had she taken part in any fashion shows. She was a little nervous now that she was going on stage for the first time while wearing a wedding dress worth several million dollars as the showpiece. Scarlett, who was 24 years old, had never been married, let alone worn a wedding dress. She never thought that her first time wearing a wedding dress would be in a situation like this.

Lucas looked at his mother, who was wearing an off-white dress decorated with orange diamonds. His eyes shone along with the ornaments of the dress. To commit this moment to memory, he quickly took out a camera from his backpack and took pictures of his mother's most beautiful sight.

Along with Lucas, the reporters in the audience all pointed their cameras at Scarlett as well. Even the business tycoons had their eyes on her. From the first row under the stage, the man in the middle noticed that the Dusk Skyline was worn by someone unexpected. The runway had even turned chaotic as that woman, who was wearing the dress he designed, unexpectedly hid behind another model.

In fact, Scarlett didn't want to do this, but the reporters in the audience had already recognized her. If they wrote something scandalous about her, they wouldn't want her at the law firm either, even if she was a world-renowned lawyer.

Seeing that the president's expression was dark and he was about to snap at any time, the person in charge of the fashion show ran to his side without being asked. "Who is this woman?" His cold voice was as sharp as a knife. The person in charge trembled and quickly explained, "Mr. Leonard, Miss Winters was missing…"
