chapter five

I held onto her waist tightly with an arm while my hand was pressed firmly behind her head for support. I turned to the men in front of us with a humorless smile on my face.

“Gentlemen, is there a problem?" The guy who I now knew as Jason just kept staring at my arm that was wrapped around her waist with a venomous intent in his eyes. I smirked as I tightened my arms around her.

“I asked a question and I expect an answer" I uttered with the same smile on my face which seemed to anger Jason as he suddenly let out a loud growl.

“Hand the girl over to me. You do not want to mess with me" I tilted my head with a smirk.

“I've heard louder growls, wolf. You don't scare me" He snarled and was about to take a step towards me when my men immediately came running with their guns pointed at Jason and his group.

“Take your leave and don't cause a scene, Jason" I muttered slowly and was about to turn around when he howled loudly.

“She's mine, I'm not going to let you take her!" I paused in my steps then let out a sigh before turning back to him.

“Well you don't have a choice. She's with me now and this is my city, I run the country and everyone bends to my will including beings like you" It looked like Jason wasn't going to give up as he kept barring his fangs at my men but before he could attacked, one of his men grabbed his hand.

”I think we should leave, That's Levi Medici" Jason growled as he pushed the guy away while a smirk appeared on my face as I noticed the conflicted look in his eyes.

“I fucking know who he is, everyone knows who he is but that doesn't mean I'm going to let him take her. She's mine so hand her over to me!" He growled so loudly that the girl shook in my arms.

“He… "

“Shhh, I'm here. Nothing is going to happen. I asked you to sleep" I muttered before she could get a word out. She didn't say anything after that but she was still trembling with fear. Just what has he done to her?

“Sebastian" As soon as I said that, Sebastian shot at Jason's leg and he immediately fell to the ground with a pain filled howl.

“What did you do to me?" Jason managed to say as his men tried to help him up from the ground.

“Over the last few months, I perfected my bullet and made it ten times faster at killing wolves than it did in the past. You better hurry him to the hospital and have that pulled out or he's going to die in the next ten minutes" His men gasped while I walked towards my car with the girl and Sebastian behind me.

“You bastard! I'm going to come back for her and when I do, you both are going to regret it!" Jason screamed and I wrapped my arms around her when she trembled.

“It's okay" I murmured as I caressed her hair softly before climbing into the car. As we drove off, we could hear Jason still screaming for her and I was glad that she had lost consciousness and couldn't hear him anymore.

“How the hell did you get involved with wolves again?" Sebastian uttered as he glanced at me through the rear view mirror and I sighed.

”It's a long story"

After rushing the girl to the hospital, Sebastian and I stayed outside her hospital ward to hear what the doctor had to say.

“Do you really want her as your secretary? That Jason guy didn't seem like someone you should mess with" Sebastian muttered and I turned to him with a glare but didn't say anything to counter what he said.

Although I knew I could handle Jason, my life was pretty much drama free after I moved from America to Italy. I hardly met Wolves and everyone knew not to cross me. Taking this girl in as my Secretary just meant that I was bringing trouble and drama into my life again but I just couldn't leave her alone like that. Could I?

Just then, the doctor walked out of the ward and I raised an eyebrow at the solemn expression on her face.

“What is it?" I questioned and he let out a sigh.

“She fainted due to the fact that she's not only emotionally exhausted but Physically as well. She has a lot of scars on her body. Some of those scars on her body have faded off and seemed to have been a result of abuse from a long time ago" I frowned.

“How long?" He sighed.

“Two to three years ago and there are fresh ones as well. Since she's a wolf, she's going to heal pretty quickly which is good news and she's going to need a lot of bed rest now" I stood up from the chair with a sigh then nodded.

“Okay thank you doctor. Can I see her?" He nodded.

“She has been asking for you ever since she woke up" I nodded slowly then briefly glanced at Sebastian before walking into the room.

As soon as she saw me, a smile adorned her face and I couldn't stop myself from smiling back.

“Are you okay?" I questioned as I walked over to the bed and towered over her. She nodded.

“Yes, all because of you. Thank you, it really means a lot to me. I guess, I owe you for saving my life twice now, huh?" She murmured and I nodded.

“Yes, you do." Then she sighed.

“But I guess you won't want me working as your secretary anymore, right? I don't want to burden you with my problems so I guess I'm going to have to find another way to…"

“What's your name?" I uttered, interrupting her mumbling.

“Erm… Karla, Karla smith" I froze up with my eyes wide. Why did her name sound the same as…

”Get some rest, you'll be moving over to my mansion later tonight" I muttered and was about to walk away when she stopped me.

“What? Why?" I halted my steps then slowly turned to her. She was staring up at me with confusion and innocence laced in her big hazel eyes. The innocence that shone in her eyes intrigued me.

Despite everything she must have been through with Jason, she still held onto her innocence. Such a fascinating girl.

I might regret my decision later but for now…

“You start work on Monday and I won't go easy on you so get some rest, you'll need it"...
