"Nice shot," Lila said with a clap. I smiled.

"Thanks, babe." I arched my bow and took a stance. Just then I felt a presence. Although it was faint, there was no way I'd mistake that scent for someone's.

I whirled around, locking gazes with the one person who had dominated my thoughts all day. He was with someone. Seeing how close they seemed, I felt a knot tighten in my throat.

I leaned in towards Lila. "Here, you can continue. I'd like some alone time." And with that, I raced into the woods without looking back.

Finding a quiet spot underneath a tree, I sat down and leaned on the trunk. 'Maybe I shouldn't have come.' I sighed. What the hell had I been thinking?

'Which do you think is worse? Getting stuck up with your stepmother who wants to sell you off, or seeing that your long-time crush has someone else?' Wolfie asked calmly.

'I don't know. I don't want both.' I sighed. 'I should probably stay away from both. I could blend in as a human too.' A
