CHAPTER ELEVEN

Ella

I was running, the leaves on the floor making crunchy noises as I did. Panting, I ran on. However, I couldn't afford to stop. Else, she'd catch up with me.

I resisted the urge to turn back and catch a glimpse of her. I knew she wasn't close to me, because her footsteps weren't audible no more.

"And do you think you can outrun me?" A calm voice suddenly said. Panicking, I nearly ran straight toward her. Blinking, I wondered how she had materialized right in my front.

"Please, don't kill me," I whispered and fell weakly to the floor. The long hours of running had sapped my energy.

"Kill? Of course not." Her kind voice said, waving her hand. She was dressed in a white flowing gown and looked every inch angelic.

I closed my eyes in relief. I wouldn't die.

"Come with me, there's something I'd like to show you." She gestured towards the back. I watched as she extended her hand toward me. I grabbed it, and she pulled me up.
