Vincenzo
I trailed her with my eyes, till she was out of sight. I did it, without appearing to do so. I cut a bit of the lasagna on my plate and took a bite.
"Father, you sent her away with your words." I heard Lila say.
I didn't reply, taking a sip of water instead.
"Father, you.." she began saying again when I cut her off.
"Not now Lila. Your friend should be grateful I allowed her to stay with the pack, even though I'm not supposed to do so." I said sternly. I avoided looking at her, not wanting to rouse memories that I desperately wanted not to awaken.
"Just great." She muttered, and slamming her fists on the table, she mumbled out of the dining hall. Leaving me to my thoughts.
As the door shut, I leaned on the chair. "Ella," I murmured. An image of her flashed through my mind, and I growled lowly.
'Snooping on a naked woman is exactly what an Alpha would do.' Ray said, with a yawn.
'I didn't know she'd want to shift. I don't even know why I trailed her last night.' I said in my defense.
'Of course, and that's why you didn't turn away when she began undressing.' Ray retorted.
I didn't reply. Last night, after leaving the living room, I watched her from my window. And when she had gone into the woods, I couldn't tell what had prompted me to follow her. As the image of her nude body flashed through my mind, I grunted lowly. I sniffed her scent which still lingered in the hall. It was intoxicating. She hadn't changed that much. She had become curvier though, and earlier on, I had spotted her nipple against the fabric of her clothing.
Recalling the scene made me stifle a groan. I shook my head lightly. I shouldn't be having such lewd thoughts towards a girl older than my daughter by barely a year.
However, there was something about her that drew me close to her. Something I couldn't seem to place.
...
"So you think constructing more buildings would be enough?" I asked calmly, sipping on my cup of coffee, and placing my legs across each other. Clad in my loose yet formal clothes, I relaxed comfortably on my large chair.
"Yes Alpha," Raffaele said with a low bow. We were in my study, having an important conversation. The only source of light was the sun rays which filtered in through the little split in the curtains which had been drawn together. Aside from that, it was dark, just as I wanted it.
I nodded. It wasn't like I had doubts about my Beta and the one who had been my friend for as long as I could remember. We had grown up together, and when the time had come for me to choose a Beta, I had known just the right person to choose. And coming this far, he wasn't disappointed at all.
"Alright then. The funds for it would be sent to the necessary account, and that's..." I was still speaking when a knock came at the door.
"Didn't you give my orders?" I turned to an equally puzzled looking Raffaele.
"I did Alpha. Let me have a look." He said and walked over to the door. Whoever was behind it, didn't have enough patience.
"Hi Alpha Vincenzo," A breezy voice said, pushing Raffaele to the side and walking in.
"Contessa? What are you doing here?" I groaned inwardly. Putting up with her was the last thing I had in mind. A red haired image flashed through my mind, and I cursed lowly.
"I'm sorry, Alpha. I can leave right now if you aren't happy with my visit." She said and began making her way back towards the door, swaying her hips as she did so.
"Why are you here?" I asked yet again, making her halt in her steps.
"I came to keep you company," she replied, turning back, and bowing lowly, exposing a glorious view of her cleavage.
"Company?" I repeated and waved my hands at Raffaele. Taking the cue, he bowed and left.
I rose slowly. "Let's take a walk around the castle then," I said, wishing I could get rid of her instead.
Her face lit up at my words. "Of course, Alpha. The pleasure would be mine.
The air outside smelt nice, and the sunlight shone down considerably. Placing my hands behind me, I took slow strides. Contessa trailed me, however, I could feel her hot stare on my being.
"I heard someone visited our pack." I heard her say.
"Um," I murmured absentmindedly.
We had barely walked a few steps ahead, when that so familiar scent wafted into my nostrils. I halted and stared ahead. Spotting a red headed beauty, made me gulp. I suddenly felt hot all over, however, I struggled to keep a bland expression on.
She was practicing archery in the open field set for the purpose. Lila was with her, cheering her on. I watched as she shot gracefully, and maintained that poise of hers.
"Is that her?" A voice jolted me out of my thoughts. I had almost forgotten I had company.
"What?" I took a defensive manner of response.
Contessa said nothing, and I made to continue walking.
"Um, Alpha, why don't we just go back? My feet are getting kinda sore." Contessa suggested.
"But we just started walking." I arched my brow.
"We can talk inside the castle, you know." She continued.
I ignored her, focusing my attention on Ella. However, once I did, she whirled in our direction, locking gazes with me.
I couldn't tell if I had imagined it, however, I saw her countenance change. I felt a knot tighten in my chest, and a guilty feeling washed over me.
Watching her as she whispered some words to Lila, and disappeared into the woods, made me want to go after her.
"Alpha,"
"Get the fuck out of here," I growled lowly and stomped off.
CHAPTER SIX Ella"Nice shot," Lila said with a clap. I smiled."Thanks, babe." I arched my bow and took a stance. Just then I felt a presence. Although it was faint, there was no way I'd mistake that scent for someone's.I whirled around, locking gazes with the one person who had dominated my thoughts all day. He was with someone. Seeing how close they seemed, I felt a knot tighten in my throat.I leaned in towards Lila. "Here, you can continue. I'd like some alone time." And with that, I raced into the woods without looking back.Finding a quiet spot underneath a tree, I sat down and leaned on the trunk. 'Maybe I shouldn't have come.' I sighed. What the hell had I been thinking? 'Which do you think is worse? Getting stuck up with your stepmother who wants to sell you off, or seeing that your long-time crush has someone else?' Wolfie asked calmly.'I don't know. I don't want both.' I sighed. 'I should probably stay away from both. I could blend in as a human too.' A
EllaThe days sped by faster than I wanted them to. As I sat on my bed one morning, after having one of my most dreaded nightmares, I massaged my temple. Leaning on the headboard, and gazing out through the window, I sighed. The day had dawned bright and beautiful indeed.'Wolfie, do you think a race this morning would do?' I questioned, clambering off the bed.'You promised Lila to accompany her shopping, remember?' My wolf protested.'She'd understand. My head feels like a mess.' I sighed, shuddering as snippets of the nightmare flashed through my mind. It wasn't the first. Ever since I was younger, after losing my mother, I always had nightmares about her. It didn't help that my father was a complete drunk. A drunkard Alpha, rare.'Well, if she'd understand.' I could picture my wolf wagging her tail, as she uttered the words. Chuckling, I made my way to the bathroom. All through the bath, I wondered how Vincenzo was. Ever since our little encounter, I hadn't run
Vincenzo"So, how has the pack affairs been in my absence?" Maximo asked in his usual gay tone."I believe it's none of your business, is it, Maximo?" I retorted. The scene where he was standing close to Ella, flashed through my mind, irking me the more."Easy, Alpha," he smirked, twirling his wine glass.I straightened, roaming my eyes over the different colors that flashed across the outdoor arena, where we were hosting a barbeque party. Chairs were arranged beautifully for those who wanted to sit."Speaking of which, when did a beauty arrive at the pack? I haven't seen her before." He shrugged, turning to look at me.Struggling to keep a bland look, I took a glass of wine from a passing waiter's tray. "And your point?" I asked in a monotone which gave nothing away about how I was feeling at that moment.I felt an unusual anger brewing in me, and I hurriedly took a full gulp of the wine."I've been without a mate for a while now, Vincenzo. Don't you think I should
Ella"What do you mean by my aim, Alpha?" Heat crept up my neck and the lower part of my stomach. His hands were still placed on my mine, leaving a tingling feeling in their wake once he lifted them."Why would you leave your pack?" He asked gruffly again, making my stomach flip. He was fucking attractive. A walking aphrodisiac. Against my wish, my eyes darted down to his chest. Muscles entwined on each other were visible. I groaned when I felt my panties getting wet."Can you move away, Alpha?" I whispered, trying to push him away. Lila may barge in at any moment, and the last thing I wanted was for her to get angry at me because of her dad.Besides, werewolves were known for their sensitive noses. He could perceive my arousal."Are you telling me what to do?" He growled lowly, his hand encircling my waist, making me gasp."Alpha..." My words trailed off when I locked gazes with him. They were filled with emotions I couldn't discern.Without saying a word, he leane
VincenzoDishes were neatly arranged on the table when I walked into the dining hall. Donning a bland face, I walked over to my seat."Morning, Dad," Lila said softly, and I nodded in answer."Good morning, Alpha." Ella followed suit. Hearing her soft voice made my breath hitch. The softness and feathery feeling her body had left on my hands last night flashed through my being making me shudder a little.I had always prided myself on my abstinence after my mate's death. However, I could feel the shackles waning. Ella was trouble. She was doing things to me no one had ever done before. Her scent wafted into my nostrils, and it was all it took to stop me from inhaling deeply.Maximo. That bastard. Although I couldn't tell why, seeing him within close proximity of her infuriated me. 'Be calm, your aura is fluctuating.' Ray muttered.I sighed inwardly and dug into my food. It tasted bland."Having breakfast without me? That's not fair." A teasing voice said, and the do
EllaI was running, the leaves on the floor making crunchy noises as I did. Panting, I ran on. However, I couldn't afford to stop. Else, she'd catch up with me.I resisted the urge to turn back and catch a glimpse of her. I knew she wasn't close to me, because her footsteps weren't audible no more."And do you think you can outrun me?" A calm voice suddenly said. Panicking, I nearly ran straight toward her. Blinking, I wondered how she had materialized right in my front."Please, don't kill me," I whispered and fell weakly to the floor. The long hours of running had sapped my energy."Kill? Of course not." Her kind voice said, waving her hand. She was dressed in a white flowing gown and looked every inch angelic.I closed my eyes in relief. I wouldn't die."Come with me, there's something I'd like to show you." She gestured towards the back. I watched as she extended her hand toward me. I grabbed it, and she pulled me up."Where are we..." I didn't get to complete my
VincenzoI stood with my hands tucked in my pocket, by the window. The day had dawned bright and clear. Sipping lazily on my cup of tea which had been served minutes ago by a maid, I appreciated the beauty of nature. My pack had always been a beautiful one. Covered with beautiful trees and their lush leaves hanging from branches made it a more spectacular sight. It was surrounded by high mountains, from all ends. And that morning, a low mist covered their tops creating a beautiful sight.A knock came at the door right at that moment. Without turning, I ushered the person in. "Come in."The door pushed open, and Raffaele walked in, dressed in formal grey attire. "Alpha, the members of the council are waiting in the hall." He bowed and clasped his hands behind his back."I'll be there shortly," I said with a nod. He bowed again and turned to leave."And Alpha, permit me to report something." His hand was on the door sill when he halted."Is it important?" I grunted with
EllaFootsteps sounded down the pathway, and I walked over to the window. And there, walking with that same woman was Vincenzo.I gulped nervously, and wished he'd look up. Just the feel of his eyes on me, would definitely give me butterflies. However, he didn't. He continued walking, while the woman did the talking.Looking at her now, I felt inferior. She looked every inch sophisticated. More sophisticated than I'd ever dream to be. The perfect woman for someone like Vincenzo. I sighed and continued looking on.However, she suddenly halted. A crease formed on my forehead, as I drew my brows close. I watched as Vincenzo walked back to her, making me wonder what sort of relationship they had.I wasn't ready for her next move though. She encircled his waist with her arms, sobbing. My mouth went dry, as I struggled to breathe. And just then, he lifted his gaze towards my direction. Locking gazes with him, didn't give me the butterflies I had been expecting. Instead
