EMY'S POV
"The pack is under attack! The pack is under attack!"
That was one thing I hadn't heard in all the ten years I had been here. I pushed myself away from the wall and got up from the cold floor where I sat in my cell. The lights were blaring red, indicating a breach in the pack.
I moved closer to the bars and right outside my cell, other prisoners' ran to and fro in panic; some were trying to get their loved ones out of their cell while others made a run for it."We need to get out of here!""Leave her, you bastard! Let's save ourselves first!"A typical thing to say. It was a greedy world after all, especially here; we were all prisoners of the Moon Shadow Pack that was presently under attack.Whoever they are, I hope they burn this pack to the ground."Ah, no," I mumbled. "The children…" I thought to myself. What would happen to them? They would probably end up like how I ended up; I woke up one day with nothing to my name; no family; no loved ones- I was practically by myself and according to the guards around, I had wandered into their territory.I've been a prisoner ever since.Sometimes, I tried to think to remember how I ended up in this godforsaken Pack but after the empty memories came nothing but a headache, the feeling of fear that left me trembling for days- it was horrific. The pack healer mentioned that I had memory loss and with time, I could recover. But who would give me time in this Pack? I was a prisoner and there were lots of hard labourers lying in wait for prisoners.Hearing that the pack was under attack filled me with a pinch of hope- the first one I'd had ever since I opened my eyes ten years ago.I grabbed the bars with both hands and barked at one of the prisoners who was about to make his way out. "Hey!" I called out and he stopped and gave his attention. His eyes were wide in fright and the way his shoulders shook, I could tell even the sudden appearance of a fly could scare him."L-Let me out of here," I practically begged while putting up a tough front. I would do anything to run away. I wanted to taste freedom and actually have it last. The man chuckled for a while but he soon turned into a creep, laughing with his eyes wide as he slowly approached my cell.I backed away, frightened by the sick look in his eyes. He was a perfect example of what life in the Moon Shadow Pack could be like. He looked a lot older than me- judging by the wrinkles on his face or maybe he wasn't that old, he had probably just been through so much-"Let you out?" he repeated. "Why would anyone waste their time on a wolfless piece of garbage!" he yelled, as if pissed that I had even dared to call out to him.His words were nothing I hadn't heard before so I wasn't hurt by them. What hurt me instead was that, once again, my deficiency had caused a hindrance."Please," I resorted to begging instead. Being wolfless had taught me one thing; no one would go out of their way to do anything for me even if my life depended on it.He backed away from the cell and with each step he took further away, my heart sank and the little light of hope started to fade away.I saw someone approach him from behind. The figure was large and it sent a chill through me. I might be wolfless but I knew danger when I saw one. I staggered back into my cell but the man didn't know what was behind him.Perhaps he sensed it because his eyes widened on alert and he spun on his heels to turn around but in the twinkling of an eye, his head was flying across the room while his lifeless body fell to the ground.I slapped a hand over my mouth as I concealed myself in the darkness of my cell, knowing fully well that wouldn't be enough to save me from a strong werewolf. The woman next to my cell screamed as the head had rolled between her cell and mine. I stared at the wide eyes of the dead man. He had died with hope of escaping in his heart while all that filled my heart was fear of what would become of me.******
I didn't need to think that far. That night, my fate was decided. The Moon Shadow Pack was swallowed up in a much larger Pack. In one night, I went from a Moon Shadow Pack prisoner to a Nightwalker's slave. The Nightwalkers Pack was made up of several other Packs- by force of course. The Alpha, Jerry, attacked smaller packs and swallowed them up on his own, forcing them into submission by killing their Alpha's and taking the lead.He had done this for several years and Moon Shadow Pack wasn't the first."Oh dear. Alpha Jerry won't ever get satisfied," I lowered my head to stare at the old woman beside me. She had her gaze on the warriors that matched towards the borders of the Pack.It wasn't in my place to care about what was going on but anyone could guess."That greedy son of a bitch!" her mate growled low under his breath afraid to be heard. "I bet he would die at the hands of his enemies but he would mistake them for his Pack members.""I doubt he knows just how big his Pack is. Now he's on his way to acquire more?" she shook her head. "But I hear the neighbouring pack is ten times the strength of this one.""There is strength in Unity, Margret," the old man told her. "Alpha Jerry may have conquered the land but he sure doesn’t have the people's heart."Everyone could agree with that. We all didn't want to be here; I especially. I was made to do every single thing. Being an Omega was bad enough but being a wolfless Omega? Even the Omegas felt like Alphas next to me. So much so that they ordered me about. It had been one year since we came under Alpha Jerry's leadership and everything had gone south in my life from there."Hey you!"I had a name but what was the point of using it when that was more effective?"On your feet."
I did as I was told before I even checked to see who was ordering me about. I met with the scowl of one of the warriors and he sized me up from head to toe. When he held my gaze, the scowl on his face twitched but only for a second before he wore back all the anger on Earth."Take this and come with me," he turned and started to walk away.I rushed towards the bag that was filled with supplies for a mission. I picked up the bag but not without my hands threatening to tear off. Heavy was an understatement. I was panting when I threw it over my shoulders.I hastened in my steps to catch up with the warrior who was heading towards the others that stood, waiting by the woods."You're kidding," one scoffed. "You're bringing that along?""It's just to carry the supplies.”
I was the 'it' and 'that' they referred to."Have you forgotten how dangerous this mission is?" they asked. "What's a wolfless piece of junk going to add to the mission if not be a burden?""Do you want to carry the supplies then?"That shut them up.Lazy bastards! My back was killing me but I couldn't even whimper or cry out in pain.We walked for hours and soon, night was upon us. They slowed down in their steps when they got to a place and the only thing in my mind was how to catch my breath."You're breathing too heavy," someone said with annoyance in his tone. "Swallow it. Don't make me hit you."It wouldn't be the first but it sure would be the last if they did that around here since their only aim was to be quiet."Shit, it's so heavily guarded," one mumbled. "It's like a field of warriors keeping guard. Who has this much security?"I dropped the bag carefully on the floor and I almost sighed in relief. I stretched out my limbs, rolling my shoulders and massaging wherever I could touch around my back to ease the throbbing pain."Are you sure it's alright to move this far away from our own border?""Quit being a whiny baby!" he scoffed. "This land doesn't belong to them. If we return without any information, Alpha Jerry will have our heads.""You, wait here," I nodded without looking. I didn't want to move any closer to begin with. I was fine right here. Whatever this mission was about, I didn't want to partake in it. I'd rather stay ignorant and carry the bag-"Abort mission! Abort mission!" I heard the warriors scream as they zoomed past me as they ran, fleeing and leaving me behind.EMY'S POVI didn't stick around for more than two seconds. I jumped to my feet and chased after them. What were they running from? I didn't want to look behind me. What if I saw something bigger than myself?Their legs were longer and I was no match for their speed. At this rate, they would leave me behind and I would end up paying for what I knew nothing about."Wait!" I called after them. "Please wait!" I almost choked on the lump in my throat. My vision was getting blurry and coupled with the night sky, it was getting too hard to see. There were times where I cursed my wolfless nature and this was one of them. I couldn't even see in the dark nor did I have the strong sense of smell to find or trace anything. There was nothing special about me."Why the fuck is that thing following us?"Their voices! I could try to trace their voice. If they would just continue speaking-"What? Get rid of her!"They were just up ahead. I could catch up if I just continued in this direction-"She's f
THORN’S POV"Outside. Now."Hunter and Dylan rushed outside at my command. Once we stepped into the hallway and shut the door behind us. We glanced at each other with the same shocked look on our faces."How long has Jerry been spying on us?" Hunter asked and folded his arms."I don't think that's it. Even our nanny couldn't tell us apart," Dylan reminded him. "What's with that woman? I noticed her eyes when we spoke. She was observing us carefully.""Everyone else has tried to do that too," I told him. "How could she know in less than thirty minutes?""Even Kate couldn't tell us apart," I clenched my fist at Hunter's words."Nor Rebecca," Dylan added."Nor Jane," I rubbed my forehead and began to pace the halls, moving further away from the door. I could feel the presence of my brothers behind me. We walked in silence, each to our own thoughts but we could tell what we were thinking so easily. Those women we mentioned were our mates. From the most recent to the first- not leaving out
EMY'S POV I was still in shock by the time the maids threw me into a nice scenting bathtub. The water had bubbles in it and they smelled…clean. It didn't have the usual rusty smell that the tap at the back of the shelter house had; it didn't have little red worms in it. Immediately I stepped my feet in it, I could feel even my insides sparkling immediately. I sat still in the tub as they scrubbed my arms and my hair. They took their time with it. I even felt bad at some point because they were using such good water that I felt I didn't deserve. They cleaned me up so good till I felt my skin could squeak if rubbed against each other. The room they led me to this time was enormous. There was nothing but a queen sized bed, a big wardrobe, a nice dresser by the side, a couch in one corner and finally, large curtains that could be well managed to fit over twenty people. The colours in the room was a mix of dark colours and gold. It was beautiful… but at the same time, scary. They put
EMY'S POV I had been a slave for far too long and maybe this offer should be a relief but I couldn't help being suspicious. It was all too good to be true. Were they in a tight situation that they had to throw the offer to a spy they presumed me to be? Even worse, a woman like myself. I didn't deserve all these things yet I sat on the table with the three most feared Alpha's while one of them fed me and took his time doing it too. I racked my brain for his name- maybe I had forgotten it somehow but the only names I could remember were Thorn and Hunter's. The one in front of me? Not quite. He didn't have the cold features like Thorn nor did he have the ever smiling face like Hunter. His distinct feature was that he wasn't too cold nor too playful. He was very much in the middle. He smiled a little, he furrowed his brows a little, he barely kept any emotion on his face - "What?" His brows jumped as he held my gaze. "Are you studying my face?" He sounded amused and I saw the ghostly
EMY'S POVI was already nodding before I could even think about it. I guess I would do pretty much anything to not be by myself in that room.He led me to his own room and I admired how he walked with his head held high even as he smelled of alcohol. I had seen lots of other wolves misbehave and act out of character at just a small sip but the way the smell clung to him, it was obvious he took larger than a sip."Here we are!" He swung the door open and stepped aside. "My paradise!"I tore my eyes from his smiley face and stepped into his room. "Woah!" I muttered with my jaw hanging loose at the bright room that was as large as mine if not larger. The decor in the room had bright colours, so did the walls and even the floor. It looked fluffy here unlike mine that felt like the walls had eyes.I saw a huge glass at one end with fishes behind it. How he had managed to have a small part of the sea in his room was simply beautiful."It's beautiful, isn't it?" He asked and I turned to see
Emy's POVI could hear the forest and the wind too but my vision was blocked by a hand or a warm body, I couldn't tell but I could feel a beating heart. It was beating wild and ferociously. Was it mine or was it them? I couldn't tell.We were being chased but I didn't know who or what was chasing us. It was too dark to see.I felt a hand press against my head as if trying to hide me from the evil eye of the ones who were after us.Wake up! Wake up! I told myself. I knew this place. It was too familiar. I was having a nightmare again but the thing with this nightmare was that I never got used to the feeling. The fear that gripped me was like wearing a piece of clothing, only this time, I couldn't take it off-"E-my!"I jumped awake, panting as I looked around. The room looked unfamiliar for a moment but after a while I realised I was in my room. How did I get here? The last thing I remembered was lying on the bed with Hunter in his own room. So how did I get here?I placed a hand over
DYLAN'S POVI couldn't take my eyes off her nor could my brothers. Her actions had left us speechless but only for a little while. I knew that pose anywhere but now I wondered just who had taught her this-"Hunter," I narrowed my eyes at him and he hurriedly threw his arms up in surrender."I swear I'm innocent!" He said in defense. Well given the shock on his face too, I had no choice but to believe him."Emy-""Let me," I stopped Thorn before he could ask overly sensitive questions without even thinking. I didn't know life in the Nightwalker Pack was this bad. Actually I had never imagined it.If things were worse, why didn't the others just leave? Maybe it wasn't as easy as it sounded. I knew Alpha Jerry had a weird obsession with stepping on smaller packs and absorbing them but did the imbecile ever stop to think for a second if his pack members were living well?I got to my feet and I headed to her. She knelt there unmoving and refusing to even lift her head. She had clenched her
EMY'S POV Dylan left without another word and Kelly, who had been talkative a while ago, was suddenly quiet. I stared at my hands feeling uncomfortable because I could feel her gaze and I debated whether or not to lift my head. When I finally did, I was shocked to see her staring at me purposefully with her legs crossed and her hand on her cheek. She smiled brightly when we locked eyes. "How lucky you are to have three Alphas to yourself," she teased. "Are they your mates or was it love at first sight?" "Mates," I replied, giving off no body language that it was a lie. It was a good thing Thorn had mentioned it. I would've stupidly said I didn't know. "Sorry, if I'm making you uncomfortable," she apologised again. "We haven't had a Luna around here in- hmm," she quickly stopped herself before she whirled her chair around. "Let's get to why you stayed back, yes?" She picked up her notepad again. What was she going to say just now? It felt like she suddenly realised she was talking
