Chapter 2

EMY'S POV

I didn't stick around for more than two seconds. I jumped to my feet and chased after them.

What were they running from? I didn't want to look behind me. What if I saw something bigger than myself?

Their legs were longer and I was no match for their speed. At this rate, they would leave me behind and I would end up paying for what I knew nothing about.

"Wait!" I called after them. "Please wait!" I almost choked on the lump in my throat. My vision was getting blurry and coupled with the night sky, it was getting too hard to see.

There were times where I cursed my wolfless nature and this was one of them. I couldn't even see in the dark nor did I have the strong sense of smell to find or trace anything. There was nothing special about me.

"Why the fuck is that thing following us?"

Their voices! I could try to trace their voice. If they would just continue speaking-

"What? Get rid of her!"

They were just up ahead. I could catch up if I just continued in this direction-

"She's fucking leading them to us! Do something about her now!"

Up until now, I had ignored their conversations, paying attention to only the sound of their voice and trying to detect where it was coming from but I couldn't help but pay attention to the last part because it was literally screamed.

Do something about who?

Something kicked my stomach with enough force that could knock out my guts.

All the miles I had managed to cover was nothing because I was thrown back with that single kick.  I slammed my back against a tree, coughing up blood and holding my stomach like it would burst. My knees were weak and covered in dirt as I knelt on mud.

My vision was hazy and the only sound that filled my ears were my heavy pants and soon, the sound of footsteps rushing to me.

Did they come back?

I couldn't make out their faces but instead of the three men that I followed into the woods, there were six standing before me.

Maybe I was just seeing double. My stomach still hurts from that kick straight to my guts. If I survived this one, I was certain nothing could pose a threat to my life.

"Bring her in," someone barked harshly and on cue, two hands grabbed me roughly by the arm, pulling me up without mercy.

"The Alphas are already in a bad mood. On the bright side, your death will be quick."

*****

They dragged me around and I was only half conscious most of the time. I was more concerned with watching my breath as I seemed to be losing it every minute.

I still clenched my hand on my stomach as it burned from inside out while the metallic taste of blood still stuck to my mouth.

I paid no attention to the path we followed but from their conversations, we had long crossed the border and we were now in the Silverfang Pack.

According to them, I had committed such a grievous crime by trespassing into their territory and everyone knew that the penalty for that was death.

"Shouldn't we clean her up before making her appear before the Alphas?" Someone suggested.

"She's going to die shortly after. Why waste good resources on a dead thing?"

Their words made my heart pound faster and faster. The way they called death upon me made me doubt if I was still alive but the ache in my stomach was enough to slam reality upon me.

What was the point of it? I could die any moment now. From all the rumours I had heard of the Silverfang Pack, the Alphas were ruthless and merciless in their judgement.

There was also a rumour that instead of one Alpha, there were three. How could three Alphas rule one Pack? If that was possible, Alpha Jerry should consider that because his Pack was getting too big for one man to handle.

But then again, Silverfang was more like a City- according to the rumours. It operated on a whole different level from the other Packs that caused many to admire and even envy- in the case of Alpha Jerry.

Sadly, I wasn't here for sightseeing.

By the time I had recovered from the mind numbing pain, we were before a mansion. My jaw dropped in awe as I gawked at the building before me. This was ten times bigger than the so-called 'mansion' that Alpha Jerry lived in.

They whisked me inside and the next thing, I was being flung across the room like a filthy rag. While I picked myself up, I noticed the floor was dark marble tiles and it was cool to the touch.

This was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen in all my life. I was so fascinated by the floor that I felt like my whole body was too dirty and would probably stain it.

I pulled the long sleeve of my shirt and wiped the little drop of blood that had stained the floor from my knee.

I heard the door open but I was too mesmerised by the floor to even pay attention to it.

"My Lord,"

Lord? Who still referred to anyone as Lord these days? I raised my head from the floor to see who was being addressed as such.

I sucked in a breath as I stared shamelessly at the man that walked across the large desk with three empty seats behind. The first thing I noticed was his hair in a loose ponytail rolled into a doughnut. The nape of his neck was fair and smooth. He wore a wine long sleeved shirt and when he sat on the desk facing my direction, I noticed the first four to five buttons were undone giving me a sneak peak at his chest.

His attention was on the glass cup he filled with water from a jug and when he glanced at me, my heart skipped a beat.

His black eyes stared at me lazily before he turned to the guard beside me in silent question.

"She was caught trespassing on Pack land, Alpha," the guard explained.

"Oh," his face, however, did not convey any emotion rather than boredom. "Is that so?"

"Yes, Alpha. The others she was with managed to escape. Forgive me, I shall do well to investigate-"

"Uh huh," he looked away, raising the cup to his mouth for a drink.

I watched his Adam's apple bob as he swallowed and I found myself salivating. That cup must be really lucky. The way the Alpha even kissed it so lightly-

"Hunter!"

I flinched at the sudden yell as the door was kicked open. Two men walked in, taking long strides with a dominating aura guiding their steps.

"You can't just walk out on your brothers. Where are your manners?"

"Don't yell too loudly, Thorn. Why do you always have to be so aggressive?"

I stared at the familiar faces of both men in shock, wondering where I had seen them before. They had the same hair and they were the same height, they looked like the same person in different copies-

I turned back to the Alpha who first walked in and I glanced again at the two who followed after. What sort of sorcery was this? They looked like… Triplets?

Were they the rumoured three Alphas that ruled Silverfang Pack?

I had seen identical twins before but identical triplets? They literally had the same face-

"Is this the trespasser?" His face was in a scowl and his voice sent chills down my spine. I had never been in such an intimidating presence before in my life. I couldn't even look them in the eye. I stared at their shirts instead with clenched fists as I felt the heaviness of their gazes upon me.

"So you've heard."

Their voices were also the same. It was impossible to tell who was speaking but this voice belonged to the first one who walked in. I could hear the uninterested tone in his voice.

The guard went on to explain my offence and with each word he spoke, sweat broke out on my skin. I was realizing just how fucked I was. Surely, there was no escaping death today.

"So that's how Jerry wants to play it, huh? No formal introduction just sending out spies instead.”

They thought I was sent here as a spy? If only they knew.

I peaked at them. They were hovering over each other, passing the glass cup and the jug around. They were in the same clothes and even the same hairstyle. I wondered if their mates could tell them apart.

"He has been trying to seek our audience for a while now," One of the Alpha's mentioned and soon chuckled with a smile that caused me to gasp.

So that’s what they looked like with a smile.

"The man has evil intentions," he glanced at me. "Clearly," our eyes met but instead of looking away, I stared. He tilted his head almost unnoticeably and I followed the action. When he squinted his eyes, I looked to the other one and this time, I met with a glare.

I lowered my head immediately, thinking to myself how they all shared different emotions.

"Is this his way of mocking us?" The smile in his voice had me raising my head again. "Sending a puny female covered in dirt to what? Fight?" he scoffed. "I almost feel so ashamed."

"There's no need for that. This one will serve as a lesson," his stern voice and slightly aggressive tone almost made me whimper but I couldn't stop staring at their faces. He rose to his feet and moved towards the window.

It was looking at handsomeness in three different mirrors all portraying the same image. My goodness! Any mother would be jealous.

"Yes, Alpha," the guard replied. I noticed he always said 'Alpha' and that was it.  I had a feeling it was because he knew their names but telling them apart was a hassle.

There was a knock on the door and it opened immediately. A guard walked in with a document in his hand. He bowed before the Alphas, "The commander asked me to hand this over to Alpha Thorn. He said he already made changes to it." he hesitated in his steps and I saw he looked back and forth between them.

"Uhm," he squeezed the document tighter. "Alpha Thorn… sir-"

The Alpha smiled, "Bring it here-"

"But he's not Alpha Thorn," I mumbled. Why was he pretending to be? Was it really that hard to tell them apart? Now that I could hear the difference in their voices, it was easy-

"What did she say?" Alpha Hunter asked and I soon realised that it didn't matter how low I must've spoken, The Alphas had really sharp ears-

"She said that's not Alpha Thorn," the guard responded, sounding a bit dazed.

I guess I spoke too loud.

"Where is he then?" I held Alpha Hunter's daring gaze and I looked at the other one whose name I didn't know. They both stared at me with a suspicious look and I gulped at the intensity of it.

"He's over there" I glanced at the Alpha that stood next to the window who now stared at me strangely. "That's… That's Alpha Thorn you're looking for."
