Chapter 12: Escape

River POV;

Alexander puts me down and turns around hot on his heels to the door of the basement that leads inside the house. When I am certain he has climbed all the stairs and I hear the door shut closed, I look around me and find myself alone in the basement. I also remember that I never heard the side door leading to the garden gets locked.

Finally, this was my chance to run away. I had no intentions of remaining in this dungeon nor at this house with crazy people who talked about werewolves and other bullshit. I could tell people were running upstairs in distress and heavy movements could be heard through the walls. Then the sound of men arguing loudly came to me through the walls, but I couldn't understand what they were talking about. Also, I didn't care to listen. For all I care they can kill each other, it really won’t bother me. All I want is to get out of here and get my freedom back.

Carefully and slowly, I approached the side door walking through the dark tight tunnel.
