Chapter 4 Hello, Mr. Fergerson

The door opened.

Aurelia was about to step forward when she noticed that the young man who got out of the car was not Caleb. It was his assistant, Sebastian.

"Ma'am, Mr. Fergerson has a last-minute appointment and he won’t make it for dinner tonight. He got you this gift."

When Aurelia called Caleb, she only told him to come back for dinner without mentioning that Penny would be around.

Otherwise, he would probably refuse to go home. After all, three years ago, he left his newlywed wife and went abroad without a second thought.

Aurelia gestured for one of her servants to receive the flowers from Sebastian's hand. With a look of disappointment on her face, she sighed. "I know he's busy. It’s fine. Make sure he takes care of himself."

Sebastian nodded and got back into the car.

Aurelia returned to the living room and looked at Penny. She was not in the best mood, so she dimissived Penny with a wave of her hand. "You can go now. I'll call you when he's free."

"Sounds good."

Penny nodded. She did not intend to stay for dinner anyway.

Watching the man’s leaving figure, Penny knew he was not Caleb.

She was fine with not meeting Caleb today. The divorce agreement was ready anyway.

On her way home, Penny checked her work group chat while waiting for the traffic light to turn green.

Her colleagues were already off work so the group chat was active.

[I heard that Caleb Fergerson is planning to get married. He paid a huge amount to get a place at Kensington Gardens as soon as it was available. Renovations should start soon, right?]

[Our boss is Caleb's high school classmate. Will he be able to secure this project?]

[If we can design a newlywed house for Caleb, I reckon our net worth will multiple a hundred times over! His net worth abroad is enough for him to top the Billionaires Index. He’s a top international capital trader and he’s a Fergerson! We’re lucky just to be able to stand beside him and chat…]

Almost no outsiders knew that Caleb was married except for a few people in his inner circle.

Not even a single word about it was mentioned in the media.

Penny was not interested in the topic. She was about to step on the gas when she received a text from her boss, Hank Lowe.

[Come to Moonlight Club. The person who was interested in the villas you designed is here and wants to chat with you personally.]

Penny embarked on the road of interior design completely by accident. She was originally a painter. When she was a freshman, she designed a villa for her classmates. The villa ended up being bought by a rich man at a price ten times higher than the original price. The sale made her famous.

Afterward, she accepted an offer from her senior, Hank, and worked part-time as an interior designer in his studio.

It was a long story as to why it was a part-time job.

She saw the text message and turned the steering wheel.

Moonlight Club was the rich’s favorite entertainment outlet in Imperial City. Everyone who stepped into the place was filthy rich.

When she arrived at the entrance of Moonlight Club, Hank sent her another text message.

[I can't come to get you. Mr. Jones said he asked a friend to bring you in, so just wait at the door.]

Moonlight Club had a membership system. Penny was not a member there, so she could only wait for someone to bring her in.

At the same time, Caleb received a call from Liam Jones. "Cousin, the friend that I want to introduce to you is at the door. Bring her with you when you come in. The two of you can get to know each other."

Liam glanced at the blueprint in his hand. He was convinced that Caleb would like it. Kensington Gardens was about to start construction and his cousin had everything, so he wanted to take the opportunity to contribute some ideas.

"I’m certain you’ll enjoy the gift I've prepared for you."

Before Caleb could reply, the music suddenly got louder and he could not hear what Liam was saying.

Caleb’s cousin, Liam, was the most famous playboy in Imperial City.

Caleb had all the reasons to overthink the so-called "gift" that his cousin had prepared.

After he got out of the car, he looked at the woman at the door with a frown. ‘It’s her?’

When he got closer, he realized that he was right.

It was the same woman he met in bed earlier that morning.

Penny was about to call Hank again when Caleb approached her.

Caleb's excellent figure and posh aura made him stand out in the crowd. Even in a place like Moonlight Club where rich people were everywhere, he was still eye-catching.

Clad in a custom-made black suit, Caleb had a cold expression on his face. He walked with the steadiness of a towering mountain, calm and restrained.

In the morning, he wondered why this woman left so quickly in the morning. It seemed that Liam had already paid her in advance.

"You’re the person that Liam wants to introduce to me?"

Penny was surprised that Caleb initiated a conversation with her. She heard him mention ‘Liam’, which she assumed to be Mr. Jones that Hank mentioned.

‘It turns out that Mr. Jones' friend is Caleb. Mr. Jones wants to introduce me to Caleb?

‘Does he want me to design a newlywed house for him?’

How ironic. They had not officially divorced yet, but the future ex-wife was offered to design a newlywed house for her future ex-husband's next wife. What a strange world.

However, she was confident of her capabilities and thought that there was absolutely no reason to turn down the project.

"I believe so. Hello, Mr. Fergerson."
