Chapter 5 I’ve Been In This Line Of Work For Three Years

Caleb's gaze was so cold that no amount of sun could warm him.

Staring at Penny sternly, he said in a calm voice, "Let's go."

Penny followed behind him. He swiped his card, and they entered the club.

The floor of the hall was shiny. Everyone waiting at the door bowed and greeted Caleb respectfully.

After walking for some distance, Caleb turned around to look at her.

Penny stopped too and gave Caleb a polite smile

"How much did Liam pay you?"

Penny did not know about Liam's relationship with Caleb. She did not know much about the Fergersons and she intend to keep it that way.

For three years, she had never met Caleb's father.

In her opinion, Liam and Caleb were likely to hang out in the same circle since they knew each other.

"My boss said that this project may be in the millions."

"You have a boss in this line of business?"

Caleb was puzzled. He did not know about this.

It seemed that what Liam said before was true. Moonlight Club would provide some customers with hidden services. He was never interested, nor did he expect to get involved on the first night of his return to Imperial City.

Nonetheless, there was no point in pursuing the matter anymore.

He walked to his private room and realized that Penny was still following him. He asked. "Liam said that your high fees come with satisfactory services?"

Penny had been in contact with many clients since she started working. Most of the wealthy clients were generous, but there were also a few particularly difficult ones.

When she heard what Caleb said, she put on her work persona. "Mr. Fergerson, everyone has a different perspective on what is considered satisfactory."

‘What a great answer.’ Caleb scoffed internally.

Dissatisfaction flashed across Caleb's gaze and he sneered. "However, I’m dissatisfied with your service."

Her movements were jerky while he took the lead the entire night. Since it was a business transaction, she should prioritize good customer service too, right?

‘In addition to that, she’s charging millions of dollars. Apart from her figure and face, she’s not worth the price at all.

‘Being in this line of work is such easy money.’

In line with the saying ‘the customer is always right’, Penny remained patient and replied, "Mr. Fergerson, you can tell me which styles you like, and I’ll make the necessary changes to suit your needs."

She gave him a polite and professional smile. She looked indescribably charming as the wall lamp cast a layer of soft light on her face.

Caleb froze. He remembered how she looked like at the end of the morning—she looked like she could not withstand the burst of passion anymore. Her red lips were slightly parted, her eyes were out of focus, and she clung so tightly to him...

Her glistening eyes were as pure as a dove. She was gorgeous.

Penny raised her head and said confidently, "Among the customers I’ve served, there are quite a few repeat customers, and they’re all satisfied with my work."

The bungalows or villas she designed could sell for several times the price even if they were sold second-hand. No customers were dissatisfied with her so far.

‘Repeat customers?’

"Do you have other clients?"

Caleb frowned in annoyance. "Was it not your first time?"

"No, I’ve been in this line of work for three years."

Penny was caught by surprise when she heard the question. She wondered what Mr. Jones told him.

As soon as she said that, the man's frown became deeper.

He could not describe the feeling, but he felt a twitch in his stuffy chest. "That’s enough. Stop following me. You got paid and that’s the end of it. Don't expect anything else."

Penny did not understand what made him angry. "Shall I go find Mr. Jones, then?"

In Caleb's eyes, she was just pretending to be clueless. His eyes narrowed unhappily.

"Is he also your client?"

"Sort of." Penny nodded. She thought that any future clients were her clients too.

Caleb's expression turned even more grim and he left without a second thought.

Penny stood there and wondered how her answer ticked him off. ‘I didn’t say much nor anything offensive, so why is he so dissatisfied with me?’

It was unlikely that he was aware of her true identity.

Just then, Hank called her and said, "Are you in?"

"Boss, I think I screwed up."

Hank was stunned. He trusted Penny completely as she was talented in design. Since she joined the industry, Penny had never said that she messed up.

"We’re in Room 1402. Come here and we’ll talk."

"Okay."

Penny hung up and asked the waiter how to get to the room.

In the room, Hank looked at Liam who sat with his legs crossed. "Mr. Jones, the designer will be here in a moment."

Liam acted flamboyant and young. He smiled and said, "No hurry, my cousin will be here soon too. They can talk face-to-face. I’m certain the project will go through."

With Liam’s assurance, Hank breathed a sigh of relief and laughed. "Speaking of which, Caleb and I were high school classmates but he probably doesn't remember me."

With Caleb’s family background and appearance, there was no shortage of people who wanted to curry favor from him since childhood.

Moreover, although they were in the same class back then, Caleb was only in school for less than half a year.

When Hank finished his sentence, Penny pushed the door open and walked in.

She did not dress in her work clothes when she went out earlier that day. Still, Penny looked elegant in her light-colored casual clothes matched with a handbag of the same color. Her long hair was slightly pulled back, giving off an organized and neat vibe.

Penny smiled at Liam and greeted him, "Hello."

Liam's eyes lit up instantly. "Not only is the designer talented but she is also so beautiful."

He was a little puzzled seeing her coming in alone. "Didn't I ask my cousin to pick you up? Where is he?"

Penny was taken aback. ‘Caleb is his cousin?’
