Scarlett stood there, unblinking, like an antelope caught in the deer's light as she stared at Gemma.

What was Gemma doing in the palace? And why was she with the king? And why had she dyed her hair red?

Scarlett could hardly believe her eyes. Kellan's hand was wrapped around Gemma's shoulder as they walked in.
