Chapter 16

Skye's POV

"You seem down in the dumps, are you okay?" Keira asked me as we lay sprawled in her bed.

It was saturday, there were no classes, so we just decided to chill and watch some movies in her room.

Nathaniel had some business to do, so it was just the two of us here, alone in this awkward silence.

"Ok fine, if you don't want to tell me then don't." I could tell she was unhappy, she was trying so hard to cheer me up these past couple of hours, and here I was, disregarding all her efforts.

I placed my elbow on the window sill and looked outside with a despondent look.

"He said no." I said candidly, and Keira jolted in her bed, looking at me with pity in her eyes.

"Oh... Skye, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have pushed it." She said.

"No, it's okay, I still have two chances. I'm sure he'll eventually say the words I long to hear." I urged myself to stay positive.

"I just thought we had a spark that night. He even gave me his jacket. Maybe I read it all wrong." I muttered under my breath.
