Chapter 2: Rumours

"What would you be doing today?" Anita asked.

"Not sure yet but definitely not going to that agency." Lily responded, sipping her wine gracefully.

"You have an event to attend tonight. It's a couples event, you and Liam are to be there because you both got an invite. Would you like to attend or?" Anita asked.

"Sure I will, but not with Liam."

"What would you do then? You know what this means."

"I will go alone, I don't care what happens after that." Lily said.

"Okay, I will get you prepared."

Soon, night came by. Anita and Lily had a driver drove them to the venue. Anita then decided to walk on the red carpet with her.

Union Gala had already started by then as everywhere glittered with lights.

Celebrities from all angles attended the event with their dates and husbands, rocking the best outfits. The colour of the day was red, so everyone had red on them making the environment shining brightly.

As the walked the red carpet one after another, the media took every single detail they could find about them.

Soon, Lily's car stopped at the entrance of the red carpet. The music was on by then, so she could not really hear what was actually been said else she would go close.

Gathering her courage, she looked at Anita and together, they came down from the car.

When the media saw the car, they already flashed their cameras, waiting on the next action.

When Lily walked towards the red carpet, they flashed their cameras towards the car, expecting Liam to step down, but was shocked when he didn't. They then wondered why Liam didn't show up.

Anita was professionally dressed as her manager. Walking towards Lily, they then attempted to make their way to the hall.

Fans were thrilled to know the reason Liam didn't show up as they screamed at the top of their voice to reach out to her.

The reporters then came with their curiosity as they threw questions as her.

"Lily, why did you attend the event alone?" one reporter asked.

"Lily, this is a couples event, why is Liam no where to be seen?" another asked.

"Lily, is everything okay between you and Liam?".....

Questions flowed like water.

Pissed, she still had to control herself.

"Please respect my artist. This is not the right time for these." Anita said coming to Lily's defense.

"Lily, is something going wrong in the relationship between you and Liam?" One of them asked, unwilling to back down.

Smiling, Lily looked at the reporter.

"Why don't you ask him then. I will suggest you do." Lily answered and walked to the red carpet.

Cameras was all over her yet she remained unfazed. Bringing up her walk, Lily made her way to the hall under everyone's amazed eyes.

Anita felt proud of her artist as she walked behind her.

During the event, Lily made more connections as her manager took her round and showed her round.

Not long after, they left for home as it was already so late.

It was just a three hours event even though there was an after party immediately after the event.

Lily was an introvert and had never really liked being in the midst of people if it was not about work.

Like was already on her bed when she decided to through her phone for a bit. On going on the internet, she noticed something related to her was going viral. Opening a few links, she saw that the media were already making up stories about her relationship with Liam.

While some were just guessing, her real fans were suspecting Liam of hurting her and were already throwing threats at him.

Pretending like she didn't see anything, she slept off. Anita on the other room at Lily's home going through the public opinion.

She could not go back to her own home because it was already so late. Sitting with a towel wrapped around her body, she went through some statements about Lily.

When she say the headlines, she froze.

"MODEL LILY AND CEO OF LUKE MODELLING AGENCY SPARK BREAKUP!"

"SEEMS LIKE LILY AND LIAM LOVE STORY IS ABOUT TO COME TO AN END."

"LILY SHOWED UP AT THE UNION GALA ALONE"

"UNBELIEVABLE: COULD LIAM HAVE HURT LILY?"

And like that, so many headlines kept coming.

"Can these people just sleep?" Anita muttered under her breath. She was already pissed at how they were mentioning Lily's name.

She would need to hear from Lily before doing anything. After all, Liam deserved the harsh words that was being thrown at him in the comment section.

Closing her laptop, she slept off.

What woke Lily up the next morning was the sound of her phone ringing. Stretching her hand, she answered the call without looking.

"Lily, I want to see you in my office now!" a harsh voice sounded.

Jumping up from the bed in shock, she woke up fully. Looking at her phone screen, she froze.

Is this fool trying to ruin my beautiful day? She thought. She then hung up the phone before he would utter the next word.

Coming down from her bed, she walked to her private gym and had her daily two hours exercise. After that, she had a cool wash up.

"I made you breakfast." Anita's voice came through as Lily walked down the stairs to her dining room.

"Thanks Anita!" she answered feeling grateful. Walking, she had a few bites and stood up to pick up a few things.

"I have to go to the agency right away."

"That animal called you right? I get." Anita answered. She wasn't surprised. She had always hated Liam and wondered why Lily was yet to see how evil he was. Her happiness was that finally, she was able to see what she could not.

"Yes, the animal did." Lily responded. They then busted out laughing.

"I will lock your door when I'm done. Just call me when you're done with him okay."

"Sure I will, bye for now."

Picking up her car key, she walked out of the house.
