02. Unplanned Trip.

"Jaaaaaadeeee... You're gonna be late for your first day of work" Valerie whined while trying to convince me to get out of bed while I was busy making up my mind to give up my Job because I wasn't ready to face the world or anyone in particular.

It's bad enough I had to deal with having Valerie through out yesterday till this morning because she refused to leave my side after learning of my lying, cheating jerk of an ex boyfriend after I came crying home yesterday.

"I'm not going" I replied stubbornly and turned away from her.

"Are you drunk?" Came her usual question she always asked whenever I say something insane like I just said.

But she doesn't understand does she? Rowan is my first love! I loved him so much that I almost don't believe what has happened even though I saw it with my very own eyes and that doesn't keep the images from flooding through my head every minute.

Disgusting. And painful.

"I wish. But you didn't let me have even a single bottle" I pointed out dryly in response to her question.

"It's bad enough you cried yourself to sleep last night, I couldn't possibly handle you actually drunk" she replied as she violently yanked the covers off my body and that led to a series of conversations and arguments until we reached a common ground where I agreed to show up at my new place of work but have her accompany me.

Unnecessary, Yes. But I needed her with me.

And besides, I wasn't really gonna fully resume duties today, I just needed to be present for documentation purposes.

After an hour plus some few extra minutes, we were both buckled in Valerie's car heading for my office with her driving since I had abandoned mine at Rowan's yesterday.

"Jade Shelton" I introduced myself to the man I was directed to after walking in and his bright beaming smile matched my countenance by a fully blown zero.

Our faces had nothing in common.

"You're the newly employed Clerk I suppose?" He questioned just as brightly as his face and I only just nodded in response before I stupidly question his exhausting aura.

Documentations thankfully didn't take much of my time and just when I thought to leave, he Instructed me to hold on and I swear my eyes rolled on the inside.

"I was selected by the Board of directors for an all expense paid trip and I'm glad to tell you that I have the ticket but I won't be going." He explained and I exchanged glances with Valerie before raising a brow up at him for clarity.

I don't quite gets what he means and how it has anything to do with me.

"My Wife just had our baby last night" he continued and almost screamed like a teenage girl.

Well, I guess that explains his mood. Congratulations? I guess.

Sure glad Valerie was with me, she was able to show the excitement on our behalf and I just stood mute as she congratulated the new dad.

"You girls are lucky to have met me here. A second later than you arrived and you would have missed me. I actually just came in here to get something quickly before returning home" he explained further and I honestly was growing tired of listening to him.

What is he? A radio presenter? He can't just stop talking and go straight to the point can he??

And as though he read my mind, he cleared his throat and straightened himself up to his feet.

"I couldn't possibly let this ticket go to waste and I can't return it now as the trip is in about two hours time, so I was thinking you would like to go in my place?" He questioned and my eyes widened but not as Valerie's that were now the size of an oversized donut.

"You're too kind sir, But I don't-" I replied obviously going to decline.

There's no way I'm going right?

"She'll definitely go in your place" Valerie interrupted and jumped right on the opportunity before I could make known my decision to decline known any further.

"In that Case, you have to Hurry. Two hours is all you've got. Tick tock girls" he cheered and threw his Jacket over his shoulders then sauntered away.

"Are you crazy???" I questioned Valerie immediately he was out of earshot.

"Were you seriously about to say No?" She demanded and I made a 'duhhhhh' face at her.

"Where are you taking me?" I questioned as I noticed I was being dragged out of the building.

"We have an hour and Fifty eight minutes left to pack your suitcase" she explained with her eyes fixed on her wristwatch I bet isn't even working.

"But I don't wanna go." I insisted and she stopped abruptly just by her car with a serious look on her face that made me sigh and stop in my tracks too.

"Why? And bless your soul you mention something about Rowan. I'm seriously gonna smack you in the face." She bit back.

"I don't mean to be harsh but can't you see? What he's done is unforgivable. This trip will take your mind off him Trust me. At least listen to me this once" she added and I was really starting to give it a second thought.

"A weekend getaway from the Asswipe" she added.

"Orrr....... A weekend with my best friend??" I countered with my plans to remain indoors with her till the following week.

"I don't think so. Mason's Mom invited me over for a family function this weekend and I gave her my word I'll be there." She explained and I made a face.

If this trip offer didn't somehow pop us, was she actually going to leave me for her Boyfriend's mother?

Even though my thoughts were petty, I frowned at her but then again, No one planned for any of this.

I guess there's only one option left for me then.

Sudden Trip, Here I come.

And as unbelievable and unplanned as it all sounded initially, hours after Valerie drove me to the airport, I stood jaw-dropped before the resort I was to spend my mini vacation.

Because this definitely is a vacation!

Right on time!

I wanted smacking my self for ever refusing this in the first place.

I was standing right in one of those places I would see on tv or magazines and only but dream of getting into.

It was beyond my wildest imagination as I walked through the hallway behind the young gentle man leading me up to my suite.

My eyes kept sweeping in all directions, admiring every single thing I came across as I walked slowly behind.

From the fancy white ceilings to the artistic paintings on the shiny walls, down to the huge ceramic pots filled with artificial flowers on either sides.

I was so taken away by my surroundings that I literally forgot to look where I was going and that brought me face to chest with a rock-like body I just bashed into.

"Hey! Watch where you're going!" I rudely dismissed the stranger but regretted it instantly when I raised my eyes to look at him.

Divinely Gorgeous is the only way to describe him.

He can very well be likened to a Greek god.

His locks of thick dark hair that appeared wet and only further complemented his tall shiny body with strong arms that were on display due to the armless shirt he had on.

I shamelessly let my eyes rake down his body and all the way back up where I my pair of hazel eyes locked with his that was glaring at me.

"If you're not so easily distracted, you wouldn't run into strangers and blame it on them" came his response and although it held every atom of a rude comeback, all I could hear was sweet Thunderous rhythm.

His thick authoritative voice shot through my entire body in vibrations but I was deprived of hearing it again because not only did he say nothing further, he brushed past me and continued on his way.

Rude much. But I can excuse that.

I then noticed the lad I was following had gone far ahead of me and I had serious catching up to do. With one glance back at the Greek god, I continued forward in my way.

I reached my room and only then realized what he (Mr. Greek god) said might have been true. I got distracted with looking around my fascinating room that I fell over my own suitcase and fell.

Sure glad I've got quick reflexes that sent my palms down to steady me else my face would have kissed the sparkly marble floor that could literally almost show my reflection clearly.

Although clumsy sounds more logical, i would stick with distraction.

Speaking of distractions, My mind trailed back to the fine gentleman I just rudely spoke to.

Do you think I owe him an apology?

Perhaps I do.

"Looking for an excuse to see him again yeah?" The tiny never lying voice in my head spoke up and I chuckled to myself at the realization.

I swore to take a bath in a jacuzzi and spend the rest of my night behind closed doors in my room but it's safe to say my plans just changed one second ago.

After a quick shower and fresh change to clothes, I went out for a 'stroll' all in hopes of running into the stranger once again.
