18. Defenseless.

Jade’s POV.

“And if you can afford a law suit with the company for breach of contract, then I dare you to turn in that resignation letter.”

I didn’t give a hoot about anything else he had said that night but these words kept ringing in my head like a broken record. ‘What breach of contract was he possibly talking about?’ I asked myself as I flipped through the pages of the file he had thrown at me.

It contained my employee records. As I read through the pages, my mouth dropped down to my jaw and I felt a piercing pain rush through my heart. He had me by the throat and there was absolutely nothing I could do about it.

I had totally forgotten all about the contract and now my hands are tied. I sank into my seat as I felt the tears form in my eyes. ‘Why the f*ck am I crying?’

I wiped my eyes with the back of my hand and exhaled. ‘This is only for a while. The contract is to last for a year, right? You got this. You can do this, Jade.’
