It turned out we were right by enlisting John's help. I doubt we would have discovered a trail had he not been with us. Though it was painful to say these words, I would do that. His nose was more sensitive and sharp than ours was. While we couldn't pick up a scent from the different ones in the air, he could do that. He didn't even have to continue sniffing as he went like we would have done.

Not only did he discover Summer's scent among the millions in the air, but he also found out that whoever took her was working with vampires. I would have teased him about not knowing the things his pack members were involved with but thought better about it. We had far more pressing matters to do, and teasing wasn't part of it.

John didn't immediately set out when he got the scent he was looking for. He kept on sniffing to make sure his nose wasn't picking up the wrong ones before he took off.
