mother

"I've told you several times, I wouldn't let Tiana stay a minute with you" even though he was speaking through the phone to his mother he raised his voice to make it very sure his mother heard him clearly.

"But my son...."his mother tried to reply calmly

" Son?" He laughed dryly

"Very funny mother" he said sarcastically.

She turned silent. There was no way she hasn't try to get her son back after the incident 20 years ago.

"How else do you want me to tell you I'm sorry" she said to break the silence.

" I've tried all means possible but you never listen to me nor do you try to have a conversation with me, I know I was wrong but I'm still your mother." It was just so clear that she was crying as she said those words to him

" I really still doubt you're my mother even after all these years" he paused

" The only living hope I have is Tiana, now you want me to bring her to you so you'll ruin her like you did to me" he laughed dryly

"You should know that would never ever happen mother" he hissed

" I've learnt my mistake Marcus"

"If you have nothing else to say mother, I would like to end this call"

" Don't, I still have things to say, son" she pleaded

"I really detest you calling me son" he told her frankly.

"I...." She tried telling him something but he didn't allow her conclude " I've got better things to do mother" he hanged up.

He picked up his suitcase and walked briskly to the sitting room. He saw Grace cleaning the centre table.

"Sir, I've prepared the coffee already" she told him immediately she saw him step into the sitting room.

"I longer have appetite for anything this morning" he told her still walking towards the door

"But sir..."

He stopped abruptly" I said I don't want anything this morning, how hard is that for you to comprehend" he hissed and walked out.

Marcus got into his car and regretted immediately for shouting at Grace unnecessarily, she wasn't even the one that annoyed him. He hit his steering wheel hard, a lot of emotions swirled inside him.

"I really need to get in control of my emotions" he spoke to himself

Grace stood behind the window and watched him drive off.

Marcus drove to work silently. On a good day he would have listened to one or two tracks from his favourite musician Bob Marley. Even after his death, Marcus still adored Robert as he fondly called him.

He drove into his office compound roughly.

"Good morning sir" the gateman greeted with smile plastered all over his face.

Marcus looked at the man, nodded his head in response to his greeting.

He came down from the car and walked briskly inside his company and just ignored whatever greetings he received from his staff.

He went straight to his cubicle, he really needed time alone.

He thought.

"What has time alone ever done, it's not like it's going to make anything better"

"I've literally been alone all these years and nothing has ever changed, still feeling the pains from twenty years ago" he hissed

He slumped on his black leather chair, relaxed a bit and adjusted his tie.

He felt as if the tie was restricting him from breathing, whereas the thoughts going through his head made him feel much worse.

"What a bad mood to start the day sir" Jessica entered her boss office carrying a file

"Jess" as he fondly called her " I wouldn't be working on any file today" he told her immediately his eyes met with the file she was holding

She stood on the other side of his table quietly and stared at him for minutes.

"Is this what you want to do this morning?" He shot the question at her

"If you continue this way there's every possibility you will age faster than you should" Jess teased him.

"And if you continue staring and me like that you wouldn't have a job by the end of today" he sat properly and placed his hands on the table.

She laughed at what he said, she was sure his mood was better.

She knew he doesn't liked to be teased about looking old, she laughs anytime he says it.

Who isn't going to grow old?

"Who is it this time?" She paused

"Your mom or your daughter?" With this statement it became obvious she was more than a staff to him.

"It's my mom" the conversation between him and his mother played within seconds in his head

"And I'm very sure I'll be hearing from my daughter soon"
