It was awkward

If a pin dropped right now it would be heard clearly to confirm how quiet it is.

Tension was building up between them and none was ready to say a word to ease the tension.

"We're almost there" Marcus spoke out at last and that didn't help because Tiana didn't give a response.

The rest of the ride continued silently.

"Pimmmmmmmmm" the blast of Marcus horn alerted John that a car was at the gate.

He dropped the bread he was eating angrily and ran to the gate to see who was disrupting his meal. He stared at the car but couldn't recognise it .

"Who are you looki....." He paused as he saw the person sitting behind the wheel

"Good evening sir" he greeted and ran back inside to open the gate for Marcus to drive in.

"I'm so sorry sir" he apologized.

"There's no problem" Marcus assured him before he could say another word.

Marcus found a spot to park his car beside his father's Buggati Divo.

He smiled "I wonder why dad still spends money on things like this"

Tiana was already down from the car and walked towards the building. Just the presence of her dad at that moment annoys her.

"My daughter" her grandfather said with smiles all over his face as he stands up to hug her

"I've missed you alot" he told her still hugging her.

"Grandpa, it's hasn't been long you've since you've seen me" she told him jokingly

"I know, I know" he laughed as he sat down.

It was as if he just go the knowledge of what was happening around him.

He folded the newspaper with him as asked sternly " Did you come here on your own" he knew the consequences if that had actually happened.

"No" she rolled her eyes "I....." Marcus presence interrupted her

No other explanation was needed after her Grandfather could see Marcus.

Immediately Marcus came close to where she stood with her grandfather she stormed inside to find her grandmother.

"Good afternoon sir" he bent down slightly to greet his father.

"How're you doing son?"

"I'm fine sir"

The reaction he got from Tiana explained alot to him. Even if he wasn't fine, he knew his son would always tell him he's fine

"She forced you here?" He knew he was asking the obvious

Marcus smiled dryly.

Tiana stood at the door of her grandmother's room for minutes contemplating if she should go in or not.

"This was a mistake"

"What am I even going to say when I get to see her"

"I shouldn't be here" the thoughts in her mind went on and on.

She took a deep breath and grabbed the handle of the door.

Esther looked up from the Magazine she was holding, she heard faint movements at her door.

She dropped the magazine on her reading table along side with her glasses and walked towards the for to see what or who was there

Esther swinged the door open and met her grandmother who was set on leaving.

"Christiana"

She turned abruptly "Ma"

The awkward silence came in as they just stared at each other like long lost lovers.

"Come in" Esther managed to say.

"She looks exactly like her mother" was the thought running through Esther's head.

The uncanny resemblance shook her to the core and it felt more like Tiana's presence came to hunt her but that would be the expression she wouldn't want Tiana to see even on her death bed.

Tiana walked slowly into the her grandmother's bedroom. She wasn't used to being alone with her.

The feeling wasn't really nice.

"Why should I be feeling this way around my grandmother" she felt like she was meeting a stranger.

It's been years since she last met her.

"You can sit on the bed"Esther urges her

"Thank you" she knew she would stand all through if she didn't offer her a seat.

"How're you doing?" Esther asked as she sat down closely beside Tiana she knew that would be the last time she would ever get to see her.

"I'm doing well"

"Grandma are you okay?" She was checking her grandmother out.

Esther smiled dryly "I'm fine"

"Are you sure??" She was clearly bothered

"You look so lean, you were better than this the last time i saw you"

"I'm aging I guess" she laughed trying to assure her granddaughter that she was doing so well

"Grandma, are you sure"

"Your weight loss is drastic, have you at least been to the hospital?"

"Christiana" she put a hand on her shoulder.

"I'm doing very well and yes I've been to the hospital, it turns out that I'm very okay"

"I really hope so grandma" she hugged her

The tension between them has been eased. The hug lasted for minutes.

It was like they were trying to make up for all the time lost with the hug.

"I would like to stay longer, but I wouldn't want my father to come in and start any trouble" Christiana broke the silence.

"I totally understand" Esther smiled at her genuinely.

"You're so beautiful" it wasn't like she was just realising that but to her it was as if she was saying it to Christiana's mother.

Esther had a lot more to say.
