loud

Marcus couldn't stay till closing hour before he left the office. He felt so uncomfortable sitting there.

He wasn't in the mood to do anything and he was sure he wasn't going to touch anything, so he just picked up his briefcase and left the office.

He got home at exactly 3::00pm, Grace and even the gateman was surprised to see him.

He stepped out of his car grumpily and matched him in the same mood. His mind was in turmoil.

"I wished I would just get knocked out" he was taking himself as he used unnecessary force to open the door.

Grace heard him talking but what  he said was incoherent to her.

"Are you talking to me sir?"

Marcus looked at her "would you please get the hell out of my way miss"

"I thought...."

"I wouldn't repeat myself Grace" he knew better than to push her out of the way

Grace moved hurriedly from his way, confusion written all over her face.

Marcus matched into his bedroom without looking back  to check out the lady he threw into a confused state.

Immediately he got into his room he yanked off his tie, slumped on the bed and that was the last thing he remembered.

Hours later, the noise coming from the sitting room woke him up.

"Dad" there was a pause.

"Dad" Tiana screamed even louder this time "don't hide inside that room because I'm not going to have any of that today

"Aunty Tiana, your father is asleep" she tried explaining to Tiana.

"He's been indoor since he came back from work"

"I don't give a damn, I need him right here right now" she was being very loud to make sure that even if he's actually sleeping the noise she was planning on making would surely wake him up.

The noise coming from from the parlour actually did the work it was meant to do.

Marcus struggled out of bed, he was still in his office wear whuch was less of a bother to him right now. He could clearly hear that the voice from the sitting room was Tiana's.

He expected her today after all, but surely not this way.

"Tiana, would you please bring your voice down" he pleaded with her immediately he got to the sitting room.

"Ohhhh, my very understanding father is awake already" sarcasm evident in her voice.

Even the deaf would hear that's she was being sarcastic at that point.

"Tiana, we could sit and talk about this"

"Like we always do dad, and end up not resolving anything"

"And you thinking being unnecessarily loud abs stubborn would do the trick" Marcus really couldn't figure out how his daughter was thinking

"Dad, I'm still trying to figure out if I'm asking too much" she started pacing slowly

"Every single thing I'm trying to know right here concerns my fucking life dad and...."

"Language Tiana" he warned as he took few steps to the sit beside him

"Is that really what you care about right now?"

"I understand that you're angry, but you're still talking to your father" he paused "so yeah put your manner in place young lady"

"Like you're any better when you talk to your mother" she defended herself

"How I talk to my mother shouldn't be your concern Tiana" he was already getting offended

"News flash, she's my grandmother" she loved the way she had the right words to use on her father

"Whatever happens between us isn't known to you so.."

"Then dad let me know, tell me whatever happened" she interrupted her father almost screaming

"I'm no longer a kid dad, I'm twenty already" she felt she really needed to remind her father incase he forgot she was old enough to shoulder whatever was coming right at her.

"I know, Tiana"

"Then prove to me you understand what what I've been going on about for years now"

"Dad, let me into your world, your past, whatever it's I really need to know about life, your family, my mother" tears was already glistening her eyes.

It hurts him to see his daughter like this, but he wasn't ready yet.

His face feel into his palms.

He felt he wasn't emotionally ready to thread through that path again. It's been over 20 years, but that memory lane felt very scary for him and he wasn't sure he could handle it yet.

"At least consider your daughter leaving her in the dark wouldn't do you her any good" those words Jess said back at the office stung his heart

He heard those words over and over again, it felt asif he recorded them and played them mentally.

He really wished he could just let the cat out of the bag right now but his weak hearts couldn't contain the pains that come along with those memories.

"I'll change into something comfortable, then we'll head to your grandfather's house" he didn't wait to get a response or reaction from her before he left for his room.
