Chapter 21: Kelly

After knocking loudly on Kelly’s door for a minute straight, she finally opens hesitantly while looking like she has been crying for quite some time.

“I didn’t think you would come.” She murmurs under her breath as she looks up at me with tears in her eyes.

“Is she alright?” Alexander asks thoughtfully from behind me and then as soon as he sees the tears he adds, “Let me know when you want to be picked up.”

Looking up at him, I state flatly, “I will stay the night here and text you in the morning when I am ready.”

Nodding, he seems to completely understand and heads back to the car. When I walk inside, I watch him leave before I shut the door and return my attention to Kelly who is standing there with tears cascading down her cheeks. As I wrap my arms around her, she lays her head on my shoulder and then says softly between crying spurts, “I don’t know what to do.”
