He blinked again, those long eyelashes of his, distracting me for a nanosecond. "I don't hate you. I simply feel nothing towards you" he said in a monotonous tone. .... Prologue
Rylee was nervous. Her palms felt clammy with sweat and her heart was pounding in an accelerated manner. Tonight was the mating ceremony for mateless pack members who were eighteen years of age and above. This was the second time Rylee was taking part in the ceremony. She had attended the previous year's ceremony but had failed to find her mate. Now, she was nineteen and was hoping that she would be able to find her mate this time.  "There you are! We've been looking for you!" Sarah, one of Rylee's friend piped as she rushed towards her with their other friend, Lana.  "I'm nervous" Rylee said to them when they got to her.  "Loosen up, sweetie. We're all going to find our mates, this time. So, cheer up, baby girl" Lana said and Rylee nodded.  "Speaking of mates, who do you think you're going to end up with?" Sarah asked and Rylee shrugged. "I don't know" "Who do you want to end up with?" Sarah pro

RYLEE Startled by the knock on my front door, I sat up in bed. I had been trying to get some sleep for the past few hours, but sleep seemed to have evaded me. Maybe, it was because my new apartment still felt unfamiliar. This was my first night in my new apartment in a different town. The knock on the door continued and I let out an exasperated sigh, hopping out of bed. My gaze rested on the clock, my brows furrowing when I saw the time. 11: 23pm. I wondered who my visitor was. I didn't know anyone in town. Cautious, I grabbed the lamp holder and made my way to the sitting room. I switched on the front porch light and walked towards the front door. Hesitant, I reached for the door knob and unlocked it. Then, I pulled the door towards me. Clutching the lamp holder tightly, I peeked out of the door, my eyes widening when I saw the man leaning by my front door. He had a mane of black hair that covered his forehead, eyes and the upper part of his nose. There was something else I noticed

RYLEE With chains binding my wrists, a man with dark brown hair led me outside the building. He took me to the car and made me sit at the back. After a little while, Alpha Vincent joined us. The man with the brown hair drove while Alpha Vincent sat beside him. I couldn't say anything. I was still too shaken up to do anything but stare. The fact remained that he'd saved me from being executed by the council, but was becoming his slave better? From the looks of the iciness of his eyes and expression, it seemed like he wasn't a very nice person. The man who was driving was hard to read as well. I hoped that everyone in Alpha Vincent's pack wasn't like him. The car stopped in front of a large pack house and the two men stepped out. "Take her to the dark room. I'll sort things out, later" Alpha Vincent said to the other man as he led me out of the car. I've always had a fear of the dark. Panic stricken, I said, "Can I not stay in a dark room? I'm afraid of the dark. I'll stay anywhere

VINCENT Her honey colored eyes were wide with fear even as I approached her. She seemed to be terrified of me, not that I cared. I just needed to understand why her flowery scent was bothering me so much. The first time I'd perceived it, was the night I had ended up at her house. I had been too out of it to investigate the reason why my wolf became restless each time we perceived the scent. The slave squeezed her eyes shut, once I was close enough. Her flowery scent hit my nostrils and I nearly groaned. My wolf had just been alerted. His excitement caused him to take over. When my fangs protruded, I knew that my eye color had changed. It was at this point that I realized why my wolf was reacting that way. The small creature cowering in front of me, with her back to the wall, was my mate. With a growl of annoyance, I pulled away and turned away from her. I didn't want a mate. Infact, I'd been doing just fine without a mate. Even if I was going to have a mate, why on Earth would it be

RYLEE I was surprised by his statement. It was the first time I was hearing those words since my life became a mess. Tears filled my eyes and I slowly met his gaze. Despite how intense his icy gaze was, I couldn't help but feel grateful that there was someone who believed me. "You do?" "That isn't the point" He said and I lowered my gaze. Considering the fact that my little excitement had gone down a notch, I was still relieved about the fact that he wasn't accusing me of making up stories, just like every other person had done. He was cold and indifferent. But, at least, he had a good sense of judgement. The man with the brown hair walked in, his gaze meeting mine. "Jared, show her to her new room" Alpha Vincent said as he turned away from us. "Come with me" Jared said and I quietly followed him after sparing the Alpha one last glance. When Jared and I got to our destination, we walked into a small room which had a mattress in it. The room felt bare. Still, I was relieved th

RYLEE   'Mate!' Sky, my wolf said and my jaw dropped as I continued to stare at Alpha Vincent. His scent was that of the earth, right after a rainstorm. I was stupefied by the fact that he was my mate. Chills crawled down my spine and my heart pounded frantically. "What?" His cold voice snapped me out of my stupor. "I-I-" He strode towards me and grabbed me by the forearm. Then, he dragged me towards the door, his nails digging into my skin. He pushed me to the ground and glowered at me. "Get out!" He roared. His eyes had turned red and there was a golden ring around his iris. I had never seen anyone with such unique eyes. I stumbled to my feet, knowing that he could really hurt me if I remained anywhere around him. I took off in the direction of my new room.

VINCENT "What did you just say?" I demanded, glaring daggers at the omega standing in front of me. She had paled to an alarming extent, her hand covering her mouth. If I wasn't in a foul mood, I would have reacted in a less hostile manner. I knew that I was goodlooking. Infact, I'd gotten used to the stares the female species throw at me, but no one had ever complimented me in such a fierce manner. Let me tell you, it takes guts. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking. I didn't mean to blurt out such rubbish" she said, lowering her head. I could smell her fear. "Why were you eavesdropping?" I asked and she shook her head. "You must be mistaken. I didn't eavesdrop. I came here to see you, but-" "You heard something, didn't you?" I cut her off. She raised her head. "Yes, I did. But, it was accidental, I swear!" She said, her eyes wide with panic. Frustrated, I pinched the bridge of my nostrils and stepped aside from the entrance of my study. She threw me a questioning stare. "Go. In" I

RYLEE All of this was a bad dream, so I thought. My knees had just buckled and I felt like time had come to a halt. "You have nothing to say, do you?" Alpha Vincent said and I shook my head. "You're talking about Rose? She went missing?" I said. "That's right. Where did you take her?" Jared asked. "I didn't kidnap her, I swear. I wouldn't do such a thing. We talked about flowers that day. We didn't do anything special. You have to believe me" "Rose is sixteen. She's an unmated omega. You have to tell us where you kept my child, you wench!" Rose's mother yelled at me. I lowered my head, squeezing my eyes shut. Why was things never going my way? "You heard her. Tell us where Rose is" Alpha Vincent said, a blank look on his face. I stared at him, mentally pleading for him to believe me this time as well. "I didn't kidnap anyone. I talked with her. But, that was it. It's the truth!" "You liar! Where have you kept my daughter?! Where is she?!" Rose's mother was filled with so muc

VINCENT        "You have a visitor, Vincent" Jared said to me as soon as I sat down in my study. I couldn't remember setting up an appointment with anyone."She's an Alpha. You never arranged an appointment with her. But, now that she's here, she insists on seeing you" Jared told me."I don't have an appointment with her. Go and tell her that I won't be seeing her. She has to leave" I said and Jared nodded. Then, he left.Few minutes later, he returned, looking provoked."She refused to leave without seeing you. She said she would spend days waiting at the gate if need be" he said to me, a frown on his face."What does she want with me now? An alliance?""It's possible" Jared said."She should forget it. I make no alliance with other packs. I'm not going to change my mind now" I said

RYLEE      Alpha Vincent's burning gaze was locked with mine, as I stared at him, shocked. "W-what?" I stuttered. I was having a hard time processing what he'd just said. As he drew nearer to me, I moved backwards. I ended up being trapped between him and the wall. His right arm was planted right on the wall, his piercing gaze locked with mine. For a moment, I was distracted by his eyes. They were oh so blue.  "That's what you want, isn't it?" Alpha Vincent droned and I swallowed hard. "N-no...I" "Cut the crap. You really are pitiful. You almost got me there. I know you're desperate. You don't have to make it so obvious" he said.  The more he spoke, the more I became upset. Few seconds ago, he'd sounded different. The look in his eyes had been different as well. For a moment, I'd wanted to believe that his intentions were true. How stupid of me to make conclusions. The fact that he was insinuating that everythi
