The carriage stopped, and Victor opened the hatch and climbed down. He held out his hand to help Izabelle do the same, but she lifted her chin proudly, pulled up her dress so she could see her own feet, and jumped down. She didn't see the amused smile on Victor's lips, for she was more concerned with the hut that she recognized if from Lilith. That was where she lived when she was not with her being. The place was sacred to the tribe and she could not allow such an insult to her people. She turned to Victor and before she could speak of the importance of that place, he picked her up easily and threw her onto his shoulders and entered the hut with her whimpering and shouting insults. She was strong, but either she had lost her strength from being away from the necklace, or Vitor was even stronger than she was. It was a mistake to underestimate that man. Now it was too late. He threw her on the bed without care, and after he had gagged her, the force managed to tie her hands to o
Izabelle got out of the shower and put on the pearl-colored sweater that was on the bed, knowing it must be Lineo's order. She sat on the bed and waited. She had no appetite. Not knowing that Lineo was someone creative. Not without knowing how he would be used that night. She needed to prepare her mind to know that that night would be one of many to come. She was afraid. She didn't have her supernatural strength without the necklace and couldn't feel it. Lineo should have taken it and put it away somewhere far away. And if she wanted to rebel against her destiny, she knew she had to find it first. She would not survive without the supernatural force. Her love for Victor at that moment was turning to hate. She closed her eyes and remembered how she felt in his arms. She loved him more than she hated him. The bedroom door opened and she looked in to see. She thought it would be some maid with her dinner, but it was Lineo and Edgar. By the looks of it, they were anxious too.
Izabelle fell to the ground in an attack position. She was naked and the icy wind punished her body. She didn't die. Her body reacted as if she were a feline. Not caring about the frightened looks at her nakedness, she went into the palace kitchen and took a knife and pushed it against her own chest, but the knife broke into pieces. Her mother came running, warned of her daughter's condition, and accompanied her to her room. "Why are you trying to kill yourself?" Her mother said grabbing a dress from the closet and helping Izabelle get dressed. "Isn't it obvious? I don't want to be Lineo and his son's mistress forever." "Edgar is mortal. Lineo could only have an immortal son, and if Victor made it.... He is Lineo's immortal son." "Do you think that will bring me comfort?" Izabelle stared at her with her eyes turning the color of silver. "Lineo is much worse than his son." "Then live your life to find a way to kill him. That child growing inside you, will not allow y
The shadow stepped out of the window and approached with a smile identical to Victor's. He was not wearing his aged form that day. He looked like Vitor's twin brother. "You didn't think that the groom's father wouldn't come to honor his firstborn son on his wedding day, did you?" "You didn't remember him when you swarmed him like a puppy, still newborn." Gullveig said lifting his chin proudly and defiantly. He went back to the window and closed it for, although the sun had not yet risen, the day was clearing. Then he approached her again assessing her unashamedly and smiled when he saw her hand in the little bag around his waist, but pretended not to notice. "My son and I have had long hours of conversations during these two years of his engagement and we have reconciled. I very much approve of his choices for women. You are truly an unprecedented beauty.... A pity that that soft, hard, smelling body of yours will age and wither away..." Gullveig smiled feigning reassu
Vitor did not participate. He lay down next to Gullveig and watched his father abuse the maid with an indifferent gaze. He still wanted Gullveig and would wait for her to wake up. He saw the exact moment when his father sucked the soul out of the maid. His wife was still asleep and the visitor Lineo had been waiting for arrived and walked over the body of the maid with a disgusted look on her face, dragging with her, a young girl from the tribe of Lilith. She faced Lineo and threw the girl toward him. "Our agreement ends here. I will take Victor's son when he turns eighteen and until then, you better not see me again, or I will kill you both." She said and walked away leaving the young girl. Lineo threw her toward Vitor who was standing and held her up. He uncovered her neck, removing her hair and sank his fangs, which grew and tore through the young woman's skin. She took her last painless breath, in the arms of Victor, who stared into the wide eyes of Gullveig watching him.
I said goodbye to Julio. I still needed to stop by the apartment we bought together to prepare the bedroom and the dining room table to surprise him on his birthday. I only had a few hours to put everything in order. I smiled just imagining the surprised face he would make. Even though we had been dating for many years, I had never given myself to him. This would be my first time. We had grown up together and so I believed him when he said that it would also be his first time. I had no reason to doubt. He was always with me. Mom used to joke that we were tight. The wedding was set. But my family didn't know about it yet. My brother was getting married soon and I didn't want to take away the attention that was being paid to him. But I didn't know how, it felt like I was dreaming. And suddenly I was living another life... seeing another person and being another person too... He got into the car and watched me while he waited for his sisters to get ready with their shopping in the
As if out of a trance, I woke up and then looked at everyone around me; Antonio, Dad, Geisa... I then understood what had happened and the tears welled up and wet my face endlessly. "You mean then that's it? Have I died? Am I dead?" They looked at each other in pity at my pain, and perhaps for this reason did not answer. They remained silent. But I didn't need to. The presence of Dad and Geisa was in itself a confirmation of the unspoken words. Without thinking about anything else I ran away. I needed to hide, or maybe even get out of this nightmare. I didn't want it to be true. I started to pray that I would wake up in my house, in my bed, in my room. I ran as fast as I could without looking back. In fact, I didn't even look ahead. The tears blurred my vision... How could I know where to go? I eventually collapsed from exhaustion. And that's how I stayed. Lying face down on the fluffy grass. I couldn't stop crying. I didn't want to die. Not yet... I couldn't be dead. I stil
I raised my voice unconsciously when I went to talk to him again. He was still standing in the doorway, but facing the room now, finding it funny. The glint in his eyes was unmistakable. I didn't even realize I had walked past him, how upset he had made me. "Look here, I've just been in an automobile accident and died! How did you expect me to look? Clean and with my hair brushed?" "I confess that wouldn't be a bad idea..." "Ah... But of course! On the day of her death, I bet she took a shower, got dressed in her best clothes, lay in bed, picked up a newspaper and read while waiting for death to come..." I ironized. "You talk as if you died today..." "And didn't you? I backed away confused by taking a step back." For a moment, I saw a shadow of compassion pass across his eyes, but it was only for a second. It was so quick I think it was even my imagination. "You've been here a little over a month, according to earthly home time." He reported impersonally, b
