Chapter 11

Helio Street was a street that was popular for its entertainment in Harbor City. Meanwhile, Lux Club was exceptionally eye-catching due to its resplendent exterior.

As soon as Sonnet arrived at the entrance, an attendant greeted her. He smiled at her and bowed down. “We only serve VIP clients here. May I know which VIP client is your host, madam?”

Sonnet did not know how to answer his question.

The attendant gave her a once over and changed the tone of his voice as he asked, “Are you a new hire?”

Sonnet shook her head.

“Excuse me, madam. We don’t accept regular guests,” the attendant said coldly.

“It’s like this. I’d like to ask about something that happened five years ago…”

“I’m sorry, madam. We can’t expose our clients’ private information,” the attendant cut her off before she could finish speaking.

“What do I need to do to become a VIP member at the club?” Sonnet asked.

“You need to pay a minimum of 15 thousand dollars to become a member,” the attendant replied. He paused and added, “You can also enter the club if you’re a guest of one of our VIP members.”

Sonnet slowly turned around and walked out.

She was filled with a sense of devastation. She could not even find a way to enter the club, let alone ask about the incident from five years ago.

She lowered her head anxiously and walked away slowly. Her mind raced as she tried to think of a way to enter the club and take a look around.

Suddenly, she returned to her sense and realized that she had unknowingly walked to the back door of Lux Club.

She stared at the tightly shut back door. She felt the urge to rush forward and knock it down.

Just then, a truck stopped by the side of the road. The driver got out of the lorry and opened the back door of Lux Club.

He then opened the back door of the truck and started moving boxes of beer off the truck. It was a liquor delivery truck.

The driver seemed exhausted from moving the boxes on his own. He tripped on the steps while walking into the club and almost fell down.

Sonnet had an idea. She hurried forward and helped the driver carry the box.

“Sir, let me help you out, alright?” She smiled at the driver.

The driver looked at her suspiciously.

She immediately said, “I saw that you almost tripped down just now, so I wanted to help you out. Don’t worry, I don’t want anything in return.”

The driver finally let down his guard. He smiled and said, “Thank you.”

Sonnet helped the driver carry a dozen of boxes onto a cart. She then pushed the cart of boxes into Lux Club.

They walked out after placing the boxes of beer in the underground storage room, where the beer was stored. When they were just about to walk out, Sonnet asked the person-in-charge of the delivery in the club, “May I know where’s the washroom?”

“It’s on the first floor. Go up and head to the end of the corridor. Don’t go anywhere else!” The person-in-charge told her.

Sonnet smiled and headed upstairs.

After going up, she turned a corner and saw a long corridor.

There were rooms on both sides of the corridor. The doors to the rooms were all tightly shut.

The lighting in the corridor was rather dim. It was probably designed that way to create a sensual atmosphere.

These types of clubs usually provided various illegal services.

Sonnet observed the wallpaper on both sides of the corridor and tried to scan her memory. However, she had no recollection of the club at all.

There were similar corridors in all clubs. However, the wallpaper of the club was different from that in her memory.

Five years had passed, and it was normal for the wallpapers to have changed. It would be better if she thought of a way to look inside one of the rooms. Even if the renovations had changed, the structure of the room should not have changed.

The rooms here should all have had the same structure. She would be able to check if the structure of the rooms here matched that of the room in her memory if she could look into one of the rooms.

However, the doors to all of the rooms were closed. How could she look inside?

She was lost in thought when the door in front of her opened. Two women laughed and screamed while they ran out of the room. They collided into her while running past her.

“Darlings, don’t run!” A man left the room and chased after them.

He was tall and plump. He had a large beer belly, and he reeked of alcohol.

He stood face to face with Sonnet as soon as he came out of the room.

He was momentarily stunned. Then, he laughed and said, “You’re a good one. You’re a natural beauty! I love natural beauties!”

He then came over and put his arm around Sonnet’s shoulder.

Sonnet immediately took a few steps back and said, “Excuse me, you got the wrong person. I don’t work the same job as those two girls.”

“It’s alright. You can start working now.” The man approached her matter-of-factly.

It was hard to communicate clearly with a drunk person. Sonnet turned around and left quickly.

However, she had only taken a few steps forward when the man grabbed hold of her, lifted her, and placed her on his shoulder.

Sonnet struggled and shouted, “Let me go! Let me go!”

The man guffawed and carried her into the room. He then threw her onto the sofa.

“Brothers, look at what I found!” He shouted loudly.

Sonnet immediately turned around and sat up. As soon as she raised her gaze, she was met with many watchful gazes.

She felt like an animal that was being watched by humans in the zoo. A strong sense of discomfort rose within her.

She jumped down from the sofa and shouted out, “I’m just a worker that came to deliver beer to the club. Please let me go.”

“How much can you earn by delivering beer? Keep me company for a night, and I’ll shower you with riches!” The plump said said roughly.

He approached her and tried touching her while speaking. Sonnet immediately hit his hands and said sternly, “Go away. I’ll call the police if you come any closer!”

After she finished speaking, the room fell silent for a moment. Everyone then burst out into laughter.

The plump man picked at his ear. It was as if he had heard some sort of joke. He turned around to face the man seated on the black sofa and exclaimed, “Mr. Scott, she said that she’ll call the police! Hahaha!”

Sonnet followed the plump man’s gaze instinctively. She looked into a pair of cold eyes.

The man was dressed in a black business suit. However, it seemed like he was not wearing anything underneath his coat. The tanned skin of his neck was visible under the coat.

The angles of his face were extremely well-defined. There was a scar on the corner of his eye. He exuded a roguish air when he smiled.

The moment Sonnet met his gaze, she could confirm that he was the leader of the men in the room.

“You can call the police if you wish,” the main said coldly.

“It’s illegal for you to force me into doing anything. Even if I can’t escape today, I’ll call the police sooner or later!” Sonnet said. She then looked at the man sincerely and said, “I don’t want to cause trouble. I just came here to deliver beer. Can you let me go?”

Everyone fell silent. Even the plump man that carried Sonnet in kept quiet. Everyone was waiting for the man to say something.

The man narrowed his eyes and looked at the plump man, “You always snatch other people’s women when you’re drunk. It’s time for you to change this bad habit of yours!”

“Yes, yes, Mr. Scott. I’ll change my ways!”

He bowed down at Sonnet courteously while speaking. “I’m sorry, pretty. I’ll send you out.” He then turned around and walked out.

Sonnet turned around and swept her gaze across the room. She then followed the plump man out.

A middle-aged woman ran over in a hurry. She knocked Sonnet out of her way without bothering to apologize and opened the door of the room straight away.

“Mr. Scott, something happened. Young Master…” The woman’s voice faded away as the door of the room closed.

Sonnet turned around to glance at the room. She then continued walking forward.

On the way out, she scanned her memories once again.

She felt that the structure of the room was similar to that of the room in her memories. It seemed like the incident had really taken place in Lux Club.
