Chapter 14

Lux Club was silent in the morning. It was not as busy nor extravagant as it appeared at night.

Sonnet met Logan on the highest floor of the club.

It turned out that Logan lived in Lux Club, on the highest floor of the club. The floor had a minimalistic but luxurious renovation. After walking in, it felt like Sonnet had entered another world.

He was smoking on the sofa when the attendant brought Sonnet to the highest floor and knocked on the door.

His stubble seemed to have grown after just one night. His angular face exuded an air of exhaustion, but he seemed to give off a stronger sense of masculine charm.

He put out his cigarette upon when Sonnet walked into the room, then dialed a number and said, “Bring Little Young Master over.”

After a while, a young woman walked into the room with the little boy that she had seen the night before in her arms.

“Both of you can take turns looking after him in shifts. You can discuss how you’d like to arrange the shifts,” Logan said bluntly.

Sonnet nodded. She then clapped her hands and spread her arms in front of the little boy. “Shamus, come on and let me carry you, alright?”

Shamus immediately tried to get out of the nanny’s arms. He ran over to Sonnet and hugged her legs.

Sonnet’s heart softened as she bent down to take him into her arms.

As soon as she raised her gaze, she saw the nanny looking at her with widened eyes. Her gaze was filled with shock.

“May, you should learn from her,” Logan told the nanny.

The shocked expression on May’s face disappeared. She then lowered her gaze and agreed to his request.

Sonnet carried Shamus to his room.

The highest floor of the club was extremely large, but half of the rooms on the floor belonged to Shamus.

Besides the bedroom, there was also a playroom, a walk-in closet, and a gaming room. The rooms were equipped with all sorts of toys, clothes, gaming facilities. There was even a large children’s playground in one of the rooms!

Sonnet could not help but feel astounded. Children from wealthy families really did not lack anything.

There was a look of admiration on May’s face when she saw how tightly Shamus held onto Sonnet’s neck. “Miss Turner, may I know how you did that?”

“What did I do?” Sonnet asked in confusion.

“How did you make Shay take such a strong liking to you and get so close to you?”

“Isn’t Shay close with you?” Sonnet was a little taken aback by May’s words.

May nodded and said, “Although I can carry him, he has never hugged me. I’ve never seen Shay hug anyone else except Mr. Scott.”

Sonnet was stunned.

She lowered her gaze and looked at Shay, who was in her arms. He had wrapped one of his arms around her neck while he played with the strands of her hair with his other hand. He was extremely focused on her.

A sensation surged in her heart as she looked at May and said, “Shay…”

May lowered her voice in shock and asked, “Miss Turner, don’t you know about Shay’s condition?”

Sonnet shook her head.

“Shay has autism.”

Autistic children tended to keep to themselves. It was as if they were living in their own worlds.

Sonnet’s heart hurt for Shamus as she asked, “Has he received any intervention?”

“He has received the best early intervention for a long time, but there hasn’t been any significant improvements,” May replied.

She looked at Sonnet as hope flickered in her gaze. “However, he was able to reciprocate to your hug just now! Perhaps Shay will get better after you show up.”

Sonnet was touched by the sincereness in her gaze. She smiled and said, “I’ll try my best to help him out.”

Sonnet chatted with May for a while. She found out that Logan had rescued May after she got abducted by kidnappers in the mountain and tried to sell her. Shay had just been born back then, so Logan asked May to look after Shay. It could be said that May had single-handedly raised Shay.

“Where’s his mother?” Sonnet could not help but ask.

May shook her head and said, “Mr. Scott has never brought her up. I’ve never dared to ask him either. No one in the club, including Fatso, who has always been by Mr. Scott’s side, knows who Shay’s mother is.”

Sonnet spent the entire afternoon keeping Shay company.

Shay ignored her most of the time. However, he never rejected her when she took him into her arms.

After noticing this, Sonnet would tell Shay the same thing before she took him into her arms. “Let me carry you, Shay.”

Shay did not respond to her, but Sonnet knew that he would eventually respond to her as long as she did not give up.

Shay took a nap in the afternoon. Sonnet asked May to look after Shay. She then gave her an excuse to go out before heading downstairs.

However, she did not leave the club. Instead, she went down to the third floor.

She vaguely remembered that the room number of the room that Mason had brought her out of five years ago was 308. Therefore, she planned to take a look at Room 308 to confirm if it was the same place that she had been five years ago.

The third floor was extremely quiet. None of the lights along the corridor were open. She was surrounded by pitch black darkness.

Sonnet walked along the long corridor and looked at the number plates of the rooms.

She finally arrived at Room 308!

Sonnet took in a deep breath and slowly opened the door of Room 308.

She took in the surroundings of the room.

There was a large, round bed and a double sofa. There were maroon-colored curtains as well.

Sonnet stood by the door, momentarily stunned.

The moment she opened the door, everything felt alien to her. The beds, sofas, and curtains were all different from they looked like five years ago.

However, after looking at her surroundings, she felt a sense of familiarity. This was a space that was familiar to her.

It felt like she had been in here for some time!

Five years had passed. The beds, sofas, and curtains could have been changed, but the general structure of the rooms had not changed.

This was really the room that she had been in. She had gotten drunk in this room and slept with an unknown man. She had also gotten pregnant with her two adorable children in this room!

After thinking about all sorts of possibilities, she clutched her chest. It felt like her heart was about to leap out of her chest.

She leaned against the wall and calmed herself down. She then walked out of the room.

Now that she had confirmed the exact location of the room, she planned to ask about the incident five years ago. It was likely that she had to ask the security guards that worked here about it and see if there were surveillance camera recordings from back then. However, five years had passed. It was unlikely that they would have kept the recordings for such a long time.

Perhaps she could ask some of the employees that had been working here for some time. She might be able to find out more about it if she asked them some questions.

She retraced her steps while thinking about it. Suddenly, she heard the sound of footsteps.

She raised her head and saw a figure walking out of the washroom ahead The figure turned a corner and disappeared.

She paused in her steps. Initially, she wanted to walk in the other direction, but for some reason, she decided to walk in another direction and chase after the figure.

Although she had only taken a glance at the man’s figure, he gave off a sense of familiarity. He looked like Maxwell Brooks!

She thought about the figure that she had seen at the main entrance of the club last night. Although she told herself that it was just someone whose silhouette resembled Maxwell, she still could not resist from chasing him to find out the truth.

She ran forward and turned the corner. She then saw the figure entering the door at the end of the corridor.

She walked over quickly and thought of knocking the door. She raised her hand, but faltered at the very last moment.

This man should not be Maxwell. It would not be appropriate for her to disturb someone else, right?

After thinking about it, she decided to give up on the thought.

She put her arm down and was about to turn around and leave when the door of the room opened and a tall figure walked out.

Sonnet glanced at his face. She instantly widened her eyes in shock.
