CHAP 27

"What happened to my father?" I asked, sweating despite my body getting cold.

Aycxe didn't answer me right away, so I quickly approached her and held her by the shoulder.

"Tell me... what happened to my father?" I begged to ask.

She looked at me sadly. "Your dad's car exploded," she said hoarsely.

I felt like a candle had gone out when I heard that. How many times did I repeat what she said in my brain?

I'm just dreaming, aren't I?

"He's safe, right?" I barely managed to ask with my shattered voice.

She slowly moved to avoid my eyes. "I am sorry to tell you . . . dead on the spot."

I completely fell in my place. I fell on the sand; my colleagues as well as Jairon quickly supported me, but I didn't pay attention to them.

I laughed out loud while my tears started to flow. I shook my head several times and closed my eyes tightly.

"You're joking, right?" I cried out.

"The helicopter will be here in five minutes," she informed.

I was just dumbfounded. I couldn't imagine that this would hap
