Chapter Twenty Eight: The Funeral (2)

"You came!" Ash whispered excitedly to Violet who ruffled his hair.

"I didn't think alpha would let you attend this funeral with other werewolves around," Mila whispered into her ear, then fixed Ash's hair, "it's a sign that he's beginning to warm up to you."

Violet raised her brows at Mila's words, recalling how Xavier had ordered and threatened her to attend. If that was his way of warming up to people then she'd rather he remained cold to her.

"I doubt that he's beginning to like me or whatever. He's still a self-centered jerk," she replied and glanced behind her, and sure enough his scowl was a clear indication that he'd heard her. Unfortunately, she didn't care.

She looked away from him and examined the pile of wood stacked far from the podium. It was stationed well enough for everyone to see. "What's with the pile of wood?"
