The wedding night

   I waited for him to freshen up while applying some oil on my naked skin.

 "He shouldn't meet me in this state", I muttered in haste and anxiety, because I'll be so ashamed if he sees me without my clothes. 

"You are married, Carmen. Don't be shy." I heard my sister's voice ring in my heart like she's actually with me. Maybe I heard that because I'm used to taking her advice on any issue. 

I chuckled slightly, arranged my messy hair, stared in the mirror then inhaled.

   The door creaked open as Kelvin stepped into the dark room. I looked up from my phone to his smiling face that gave me goosebumps and smiled back. 

I dropped my phone and sat beside him on the bed, laughing while he showed me the pictures that we took before, during and after the wedding party. 

" I almost couldn't recognise you today, Babe. Your make up artist is truly a Professional. Maybe she'd become our new make-up artist to cover all the company's events, you know. 

I mean, She transformed you entirely." He said, staring into my eyes. 

"Kelvin, you are saying this because you've never seen me in makeup, to you I transformed, but I only highlighted my naturally beautiful face" I said, winking at him and continued looking at some of the pictures. 

"I agree, my wife is the most beautiful woman. Who can compare!" 

"Don't even start", I said amidst laughter. 

"Seriously Babe, I'm glad you said yes to me and made our love a reality today. I'm grateful for your love, I'm grateful that you chose me, I'm grateful that we begin our journey to forever today, I'm grateful that you didn't listen to the gossips from our company, I'm grateful that you are now my wife and you're all that matter to me from now on till forever."

  I quietly savoured this moment, as he talked, recounting all that happened today even while we took our vows. How he looked at me with such tenderness and beaming joy that I also exuded radiantly. 

Although our wedding was low key, because that's what I wanted, so many top officials, movers of the economy, young entrepreneurs and Billionaires were in attendance. My husband saw to that effulgence. The royal society of Edinburgh where I come from, also graced the occasion with pomp and joyous celebration too. 

I jolted back to face my husband in front of me quickly. His handsome face still had that sober and coordinated look, like the Boss that he was. 

"A penny for your thoughts?" He asked.

"Sorry for drifting off Kay. I'm right here with you. Thanks for loving me sincerely amongst your many options, thanks for seeing that we could build a future together in love and affection. I love you and I'll say yes to our togetherness over and over again."
