Another glass please

"Your boyfriend Marcus is a womanizer and your girlfriend Shirley is a hypocrite. I want you to be safe around these two dangerous humans after seeing this and please do not try to ask Shirley about it, watch her actions to you and Marcus closely. Wishing you peace and true love indeed."

I stood transfixed, as I read the short text, too shocked to move or cry or do anything.

I called to inform my close associate at work that I couldn't make it, and that I'm seriously ill.

My sister came by later that day, she brought my favourite brownies, chocolates and cookies that I refused to accept that evening.

"Why would he do this to me?!" I asked, bursting out in tears.

"Hey sis. You'll be okay. Don't stress over an unworthy man. He doesn't really deserve you. He's a dog, looking for bitches to sleep with, and your fake friend Shirley is a goddamn bitch."

I burst out crying like a baby.

My sister held me in her arms and rocked me to sleep.

The next day I resumed work and was heartily welcomed by everyone. I got a call from my associate, that the CEO needs my attention.

My fingers went numb immediately as I walked to his office, I was having an unusually bad feeling which I couldn't explain.

"Come in," I heard as soon as I got to the third door in his office, after checking the first two.

I didn't need to knock on the third door, because it was transparent.

Workers were usually not allowed in except it was a very special situation.

He was on white trousers, white long sleeves, and a blue blazer. I was in a brown shirt and white trousers.

He sat carelessly on the couch, trying to pick a new colour display for his name that was engraved on the first door of his office; "KAY BERNARD."

Only he could change the font, shape, or colour of his name that has been written on the door frame, with a unique tablet specifically for that.

The set of engineers who worked on the features were a team of technological experts who lived abroad, they were paid heavily to come execute the contract for Kay & Bay corporation in Texas.

"Good day Boss Kay,"I greeted fidgeting and looking around awkwardly

"Hello Carmen, good to see you," he said, dropping the tablet.

"You may sit"

I sat down quickly, so exhausted from crying the whole night.

"You look very tired, and why were you absent yesterday?" He asked me.

"I was sick," I answered stammering.

"Oh, you were. So sorry about that, how are you now?"

"I'm fine Boss," I said forcing a smile.

"I like that," he suddenly said.

"What?" I asked.

"Your smile, I like it, looks really calm."

"Thanks," I said, smiling again.

"It's almost time for lunch and everyone will be out for the lunch break soon. Do you mind us having lunch together?"

"No, I don't," I said "Where do you intend to go sir?"

"Nowhere," he replied, smirking.

"This is my own place, and we can have lunch right here, let me show you."

He walked to another section of the office and brought a bottle of wine.

"Here you go, it's a bit alcoholic, we can eat some snacks after this if you want. Do you mind?"

"No I don't," I said lying, knowing well that I hardly drink alcohol.

I only wanted to leave his presence quickly to think about my sorrowful relationship.

With that in mind, I forgot who I was with, or that I was with the one and only CEO of Kay & Bay.

"Please let me have another glass," I requested, hoping to drown all my sorrows in the intoxicating wine.

I stood up to leave as soon as the lunch break was over, but couldn't.

Kay tried to assist me while standing because I was already drunk and staggered a bit.
